Ava POV
"Mom" I screamed. "Theo is annoying"
"Theodore Lopez, please stop pestering your sister," Mom requested.
"But Mom, she's going out again, and it's Sunday, which means Game Day with me, and she's going out. That's not fair," he retorted.
Mom entered the main room carrying a glass of blood. "Ava, honey, are you sure you want to go out with her?" She enquired as she sipped from her drink.
"Yes, Mom, she is different like special different. I can feel it in my bones." "All right, honey, go, but don't stay out too late. Come back home since we're having a family movie night."
"I won't, bye." I said out loud.
Dammit, I'm late, I murmured as I went out the door, noticing the time. Theo, you're a jerk. I raced as fast as I could, praying she didn't leave because I was late or because she felt I was irresponsible and had a different impression of me.
Fuck.
I arrived at the meeting spot at a typical pace, giving the impression that I sprinted over there. She stood at the front door, dressed in tight black leggings, a woolen black shirt, and a long light brown coat to stay warm, her hair open as usual.
HOT.
She was waiting and checking her watch every ten seconds, as if she was waiting for a specific time to go. Jogging towards her, I breathed "Hey," stooping down and seeming to breathe hard. "I'm sorry, I'm late," I gasped for oxygen.
"You're precisely 7 minutes late. We were meant to meet at 1:00, but you showed up at precisely 1:07." "I apologize for being late; my brother was bothering me." I said panting for air.
"Miss Ava, here's something you should know about me: I don't appreciate it when people waste my time. I am the person who will leave them and go do my other works," she replied, somewhat glaring at me with those eyes, and I felt a little intimidated by her.
She is ideal for her job as a detective. Can glaring at someone make the person so beautiful.
"But you waited for me for the entire 7 minutes. You appear to have created an exception for me." With a silly grin on my face, I mocked her. But she only stared at me, so I lifted my hands in surrender. "I understand, I'm sorry, but I'm hoping where I'm bringing you will be worthwhile. It's well worth it." I told her, I was taking her to meet some significant individuals in my life.
"So, what are your plans for today?"she questioned. "I'm taking you to meet someone," I said, she looked at me. "I hope I'm not going to meet your family," she chuckled nervously. "No"
Although I wish I did.
"Well not now" I said muttering under my breath.
"Wait, what did you say?" she asked squinting her eyes at me. "Uhh, nothing here, let's go in." I stated I'd take her in by holding her hand, but she didn't move. I turned around to look at her expression. She raised her brow as I placed my hand on her. Is she always raising her brow?
"Sorry," I whispered as I looked down, immediately letting it go. "Why are we going in here?" she said, glancing at the door.
"Well, that person is here, so let's go, we don't have much time." I responded as I held the door open for her. "Please come in," I whispered, lowering my head.
"Aren't you a gentlewoman?" she said smiling brightly showing her cute small dimple as she walked in. I grinned as I followed her inside the room. "Are you going to tell me about what will we do in an orphanage?" she asked curiously. "Yes, just wait a moment," I answered, looking around for him. "Who are you looking for?" she inquired.
"My boyfriend." I stated that without comprehending what I was saying. Her expression contained it, yet there was no sign of envy or disappointment on any of their faces. But things rapidly changed.
"No no. Just could you please wait?" I stated that with puppy dog eyes and some optimism in it. I'm hoping she doesn't become bored; I want her to meet him, but what if she gets bored thinking I'm a child, but I'm not, and has second thoughts about spending her time with me? I mean, she's a full-grown ass woman-----"Ava," she whispered, jolting me out of my thoughts, and before I could respond, I heard his voice.
"Ava," he exclaimed, and I spun around to see him rushing my way.
I knelt down and cradled him in my arms. "Ben," I murmured enthusiastically, wrapping my arms around him and holding him hard.
"I missed you, Ava," he whispered in the crook of my neck. "I missed you too, buddy," I said, pecking his cheek. He drew back, clutching my face in his little hands, and began kissing me all over. "OK, buddy, calm down," I replied, taking his hands in mine as I got up.
"Who is she?" he inquired, clutching my shirt and hiding behind my leg. I moved to the left so she could see him.
"I am sorry he his a bit shy when meeting strangers." Looking at her, I saw she had a sweet grin on her face. "Ben, I want you to meet my friend here," Olivia stooped down to eye level and extended her hand for him to shake.
"Hello, Ben, my name is Olivia," she replied as he carefully lifted his hand and gave her a handshake. "Hello," he murmured nervously.
"Ava Lopez," I heard. I looked up to see her standing here with a cup of coffee in her hand.
"Emma Jones" I said back.
She walked over to me, plopped her cup on the table next her, and whacked my head. "Woman, oww." I complained. "You skipped your previous visit, and everyone is upset with you," she said with an anger lace in her tone and disappointment. I slumped my shoulders in guilt.
"I am sorry." I muttered looking down at my feet feeling guilty for not visiting.
"You say that a lot," Emma commented as she stared at me. " I'd agree with you, ma'am." Olivia remarked this while standing up, with Ben by her side. "Me three," Ben explained. I gasped and playfully glared at everyone.
"I see you three are teaming together to take on me. That is not right "They made fun of my infantile behavior.
"Who might this lady be, Ava?" Emma inquired, staring at Olivia. "Olivia this is Emma, Emma this is Olivia my friend. " I mentioned introducing them.
"Friend, are you sure?" she said, lifting her brow at me.
"Yes," I replied nonchantly. "and you bought her here."
"Yes."
"How long have you known each other?"
"A week," Olivia murmured, Emma returned to her mug humming.
"What exactly are you thinking?" I questioned placing my hand on my hip "Nothing" she replied.
."No, that hmm wasn't nothing, I know. What exactly is it? "I inquired. "You'll know when the time arrives."
What was that hmmm for?
