Regina looked on at Mana with a perplexed expression.
Last night, Mana told her they were reliving the same day over and over again.
This explains the almost excruciating level of Deja Vu she had been feeling.
A loud beep suddenly rung out.Suddenly, she began to feel very sleepy, and so did Mana.
They had to figure out what was happening. They had to figure out why the day was repeating itself.Somebody was surely behind this.
//
The morning sun shone brightly through the blinds, illuminating the entire room. Regina awoke first with a big stretch and a long yawn. She lazily moved her matted hair out of her face and rubbed her eyes. She looked down next to her to see Mana still sleeping soundly.
Regina could always let her sleep. However today was another day of the festival, and this day was particularly exciting for Regina.
The blonde had her methods of waking up her sleepy girlfriend. But her favourite was kissing her cheek until she woke up.
It had a 90% success rate. On the times it didn't work, Regina in a literal and figurative sense was dragged back into a slumber.Mana awoke after the fourth kiss, grumbling, mumbling and yawning.
"Good morning sleepyhead!"
Mana yawned and opened her big magenta eyes to look at the grinning blonde.
She turned to grab her phone to look at the date and time.
9:30am, August 4th.Mana's birthday. It was hard to think she was now seventeen years old.
"Happy birthday, Mana!" Regina whooped, still grinning.
Regina always found herself excited whenever it was Mana's birthday. It was a day she looked forward to more than her own birthday.
Mana smiled at her girlfriend's excited face.
It was something that always melted her heart.
"Good morning, Blondie," Mana blabbered with a kiss to Regina's cheek, making the latter develop an intense blush.Mana slowly got out of bed and got changed, deciding to wear a black shirt with blue sleeves and blue shorts.
She noticed something on the wall.It was a note. From the looks of things, it looked about a month old. That was weird.
She grabbed the note attached to the wall, and read it.
'Your days are repeating themselves. At the time of writing this we're probably on cycle 40. Every time we get close to the truth we run out of time. When you read this, you need to warn the others. Maybe you can all think of something together.
You need to break the cycle.
You need to put everything together.
Signed, Mana.'The contents of the letter shook Mana, and a powerful headache quickly set in, as if her brain was finally functioning properly.
"Mana are you okay??" Regina asked concerned, looking at the pinkette.
Mana finally understood. That intense feeling of deja vu finally made sense.
She was living the same day over and over and over again. But why? There surely had to be a reason.Someone had to be behind this.
Mana turned to her blonde lover and took a deep breath.
"We're living the same day. A samsara if you will.""W-what?" Regina asked, flabbergasted, "what does that even mean?"
She got no response as Mana put on her shoes and walked out of the door. Not wanting to be left behind, Regina followed.
Mana exuded confidence with every step she took along the concrete. Finally everything was making sense.
She eyed the crumbling, dusty stalls of what was once a beautiful festival zone. The colourful, vibrant nature of the samsara finally began to crack, as if a mask was slipping from someone's face, and the ugly truth was being revealed behind it.
What was behind all of that was a crumbling, broken, twisted world.
