Chapter 60 Feel Better

"You really aren't hungry? You don't want me to order you something?" Shinsou asked for the so-many-he-lost-track time. He was still shocked that a pregnancy had caused the bottomless pit of a stomach to become closed. He wasn't sure he'd seen Denki take a nibble of anything. And after the effects of the pill, he thought the boy would be craving something.

After the shower, when the bleeding had come to a stop and a few hours of sitting in the shower while Denki cried from the pain and from the loss, Shinsou had wrapped Denki in as many warm towels and blankets as he could and brought him back to the bed. Now he doting on every need the omega had. He didn't want the boy to lift a finger. Shinsou felt such guilt over the abortion and he didn't want Denki to feel it. The TV was on and playing a musical movie about something, he hadn't really paid attention when he clicked it but he heard a lot of music. It was something about a big plant.

"Tell me what I can get you, love," Shinsou said, petting Denki's cheek. "What can I do for you?"

Denki didn't really know what to say, he began to babble to himself. It was so quiet that Shinsou nearly couldn't hear him. There it was, the light bubbling noises of a baby. Denki hadn't reverted into a little space or any childlike behavior since he started learning.

"Wa... water" Denki finally spoke in a dialect of a toddler. His words shaky from crying, mostly trying to stop. Every time he closed his eyes he saw Dabi and all the other people who watched him suffer.

"Okay, I'll get you some water." Instead of leaving the boy on the bed to get it, Shinsou picked up his little sushi roll and carried Denki with him. The alpha refused to let his mate be alone right now. Denki needed to know that his alpha was always going to be there for him. He let the little blond nuzzle into his neck as he got a cup from his cupboard and filled it with ice and fresh water. He screwed on the lid and put a straw through it so Denki could drink and not worry about spilling. Shinsou heard the baby-like babbling and knew what it meant for Denki's mental state. But after the ordeal he had just gone through, Shinsou was okay with letting him try to comfort himself in any way he wanted.

Giving Denki the cup and letting him drink the water, Shinsou paced around his hotel room, bouncing Denki gently. He tried to think of something for them to do. Denki needed rest but making him sit in the bed and just think about what happened wasn't a good idea. He needed to take Denki somewhere new, somewhere that would distract him from all this pain. Seeing the pile of books near the bed, Shinsou got an idea.

"Bumblebee?" he said softly, getting the boy's attention, "Do you feel okay enough to go out? There's a place I would like to take you. A place I think you will like. Do you want to go?"

Denki looked back down at his cup then back at Shinsou. He didn't know where the alpha wanted to take him but anything was better than nothing. Something made Denki want to leave the suite anyway, looking at the bathroom door now as a cemetery.

"Y-yes" Denki replied after a long wait.

Shinsou smiled and pulled Denki in for a hug. "Okay. Let's get dressed and we can go. I think you're really going to like it."

Walking to the bedroom closet, Shinsou picked out some very basic clothes for himself. A pair of dark jeans, a black t-shirt, and a dark purple and white plaid button-up to go over it. The man who always had bags under his eyes never looked great in bright colors, they made the shadows under his eyes stand out too much. Dark colors made it all sort of blend together. But for Denki, Shinsou picked out bright colors, things he loved and that had always made him smile. A yellow sleeveless with a sunflower on the front and a thin light blue jacket to wear over. He almost grabbed one of the pink skirts for Denki, something Shinsou always found him the most cute in, but hesitated. If Denki was still bleeding, that would be a very bad stain. But he had a way to prevent that.
