Chapter 87 One Step At A Time

Shinsou kissed Denki's cheeks and his lips, savoring every touch and smell as if he might never get the chance again. The fear he had felt when he heard Denki was taken had ripped the hope of any life away from him. In the back of his mind, Shinsou needed to remember to check on Sero more often. If this was how he felt after 'almost' losing his mate, what Sero was going through had to be so much worse.

Momo walked over and pet Denki's hair. "I'll see you later, my little duckling. Get a good rest."

Denki smiled and nodded silently at moment as he was taken back upstairs. The omega felt his body still weak and he felt disgusted with himself. Denki looked up at Shinsou not wanting to say anything. The small blonde felt like he wasn't allowed to be with Shinsou anymore, that he didn't deserve it.

Seeing his beloved mate looking up at him made all the world feel right again. "Hello there, little Bumblebee." The alpha leaned down and kissed Denki on the nose. "I'm glad to see you awake again. I'm so happy to have you with me again." Shinsou gave the boy a squeeze as he hugged him, burying his face in Denki's neck. "I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. I promised you that that this would never happen. I promised to protect you. I failed you."

Denki felt his heart stop hearing those words. He didn't expect Shinsou to say anything of that sort. If anything the omega expected Shinsou to be angry with him for leaving the hotel. The omega didn't understand why he wasn't in trouble for going off with a stranger.

"T-Toshi...I...I leave... it was. My fault" Denki said with a raspy voice. His throat was still extremely sore but he missed talking to his alpha.

"Shhhhh, it's okay, love." Shinsou smiled and pet Denki's hair.

"I'll go get him some water," Mina said, rising from her chair and walking out of the room.

The alpha and omega cuddled on the bed, finally alone together. It had felt like ages since they were together in Shinsou's head. So much has happened in such a little time. The hotel was shut down and he wasn't sure where they would live until then. But as long as he was with Denki, it was okay.

"You did nothing wrong," Shinsou said, "That girl tricked you. That's not your fault. I'm not mad. Not at all." He gave Denki a kiss.

"I...I'm sorry I n-not smart Toshi" Denki whimpered feeling like no amount of learning was going to make him brain better.

"No never say that" Shinsou said back cuddling his omega.

"B-but true, I no have brain. I try and I say n-no but I go anyway..." Denki said feeling stupid.

Shinsou hugged Denki tighter and nuzzled into his hair. "My little omega. You're very smart, and you're young. Even I get tricked by people. No matter how old or how smart you may be, anyone can be tricked or fooled."

Touching Denki's chin, the alpha made the boy look up at him. "I love you. And I'm going to take care of you. Together, nobody will ever trick us again. Right? As long as we're together."

"As... as long as we're t-together" Denki repeated for his alpha to nod. He gave Shinsou a weak smile feeling his tiredness come over him again. Denki wanted to stay awake with Shinsou but his body wouldn't let him. The omega's eyes began to flutter again losing consciousness little by little.

"Sleep, my bumblebee," Shinsou whispered, giving Denki more kisses. He got himself comfy on the bed and pulled the blanket up and over the omega. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying right here."

The door cracked open a little and Mina peeked her eye in. She smiled and snuck in to drop off the cup of water. "Aizawa is outside watching," she reported before going back out.
