DECLAN:
We've been in Italy for the last 2 and half weeks now and we've done amazingly, we won our group stage and came top of the group. We also got though knockouts the next match is quarter finals.
As great as it's been I'm really struggling here, I speak to Ads everyday and Teddy but it's not the same. I know if Addi could be here she would but it wasn't possible. The guys know Mase and I are struggling, but they're keeping our spirits up. I talk to a lot of the lads who are dads already and I'm not the only one who's left the family at home. So we're kind of helping each other through. Today Mason and I are on, Lions Den with Josh, we'll talk all about the euros, answer questions from fans and do games. I'm quite excited.
"You ready for this bro" Mase comes over excitedly, I nod but he knows somethings wrong "what's up" he says and I look down and say "She didn't answer my FaceTime or my call before this. With training being long days and late finishes I've barely spoken to her or Ted these last few days. I haven't spoke to her since yesterday morning" he hugs me and responds "I know lad me too, it's really hard not being able to talk to her but she knows we're working hard and we need to keep doing it to make them both proud." Masons words really help me as we head over to Josh.
Lions den 🦁
J-Hello boys how are we doing
M-Hey Josh, we're good what about you.
J-Not too bad. So straight in with the questions and one I've been reading a lot is to ask you both, does this tournament feel different for you, as you've always called each other your brother but this time round you actually are?
D- that is true, obviously for football purposes, it's still just Rice and Mount. It doesn't feel different in that aspect no. As playing here is a dream come true but he's always been my brother so it's always amazing to do it with him by my side.
M- yeah like Dec said and like I joke with Ads about, he was always mine first. (All laughing)
J- You saying about name Dec, I did read that legally your no longer Rice?
D- No, I'm actually Declan Mount-Rice, it was a combined decision between me and my wife Ads, obviously she loved being a Mount and having that closeness with Mase. Like honestly they're amazing siblings, she didn't want to lose it and I understood, and we are a close family so this way our son had both sides of the family showing. Even if some of the lads do find it hilarious that I've become Mount in my surname.
J- that's beautiful and speaking of your son how is he? I see pictures and he's beautiful.
D- yeah he is beautiful, he is amazing and growing up so quickly.
J- How does being an uncle feel Mase?
M-Words can't describe it, he's an amazing dude and I'm so proud of Ads and Dec for having him, I spend all my possible time with him. Being an uncle is just an amazing honour but I do have to share that as all the lads have claimed to be 'adoptive uncles'.
*about 20 minutes later*
J- We've got a couple of special guests on the show soon, but first I have one last question from a fan. They want to know is it hard being here with family at home?
M- yes it is hard, Dec and I miss Ads and Ted loads, I suppose missing the same people we can share the upset and get through it. Obviously playing Euros is an honour but it is hard when loved ones are at home and it's usually on the downtime which it shows. A lot of the other lads have picked up that we can get quite miserable when we miss them or if timings don't work out and we miss a phone call for the evening.
D-I agree with everything Mase has said.
J- Well boys we do have a little surprise with our guests. If you boys would look over to your right, we have the amazing Addi and baby Teddy.I can't believe it, I look over and see them. Me and Mason run over and hug Addi who's holding Teddy who is smiling at us. I pick Teddy up and give him a kiss telling him how much I've missed him, whilst Addi and Mason have a emotional reunion. Soon I give Teddy over to Mason, which he cries at and I take my girl in my arms. "I have so many questions right now baby but I've missed you so much it's been so hard without you" she snuggles into my neck and says "you've done so well baby I've been watching every match. I'm so proud of you. I've missed you too but I'm here now and I'm staying" she says and Mason hears. We all cheer and then thank Josh loads.
1 hour later
ADDISON:
We're just about to walk into the lounging room where all the rest of the lads are. They have no idea I've come so we're going to surprise them, I know I'll lose Teddy. I'm gonna say Jack, Ben or Jords will take him first but they will all have cuddles. Mase and Dec open the door first then I walk in and shout "SURPRISE!" They all look around and cheer when they see me all running for a hug, Jack gets to me first gives me a kiss on the cheek and a hug "hey you, im glad you're here. They've been lost without you but now I need a cuddle with my little dude" he takes Teddy and starts making him laugh immediately. All the boys tell me how lost Dec and Mason have been.I've said all my hellos and Teddy's with the lads so I go and get a drink and sit with Dec and Mase, Decs currently playing Jude on Xbox so I sit on the sofa and cuddle Mason. I lay on him and say "I've missed you big brother. Can I have a cuddle?" He smiles and cuddles me "always Ads." We stay like that until it's his turn against Jude as Dec lost. I cuddle up to Declan and stay cuddled until it's Teddy's time for bottle. I make Teddy a bottle and go to find him, he's playing with Jordan H, as I walk over Jord spots the bottle in my hand. "I'll give it him, go spend the time with Dec, he's proper missed you." I hand the bottle over thanking him and it's amazing that Teddy settles for all these lads so it means I can talk to Dec as I think these last couple of weeks have affected him mentally.
