Chapter 14 : Incoming danger

As the figure calling out brother came closer, it was Prince Aiden. He was looking for the suspicious guy that he saw earlier instead he got to see his brother on the second floor which surprised him.

He started questioning him asking,

"What are you doing here?", he was suspicious because it was known that Prince Ethan wasn't supposed to come at all. It was known only between them.

Ethan smirked, "You know I felt under the weather in the room so I came out. I can come whenever I want to enjoy the party, right?"

Aiden looked at him for a while and smiled, of course, my brother. You're able to enjoy the party anytime you want since you have the power to do so as you're the prince. But one question first I might ask you! Did you see anyone here or who seemed suspicious..?"

Ethan and Lanier looked at each other. They seemed to understand that the girl may have caught his attention even though she disguised as a guy but that looked suspicious to Aiden thinking he might be an assassin or so, for that case he followed her but judging by Aiden's look it doesn't seem that he knows she's a girl yet.

Not to create any more drama Ethan replied, "No, I haven't seen anyone. Was there any suspicious movement against us ?"

"Not yet. That's why I'm being careful. You should be too!"

"Okay"

Prince Aiden began to leave while suddenly Ethan hold his shoulders. Aiden looked back.

"?"

Ethan gave a stern look saying, "Unless someone is trying to kill whatever its gender is; I don't care what you do to those killers but if it's not a person trying to kill you at least try to respect that person.

Aiden smiled, " I don't know what you're talking about ..?"

"About the girls meeting earlier I saw the scene. You shouldn't refer to girls as "things" they are humans too and they can like whoever they want; it's their choice. You don't need to forcefully accept them nor you should despise them either ."

"Funny how you heard my saying that even though I told those in a very low voice", Aiden laughed.

"We are twins; of course we have some intuition for which we can sense about each other . That's what I learned being twins is about knowing each other a lot"
Aiden clings onto Ethan by putting his arm around his shoulders, "My brother is something isn't he?"

"Yeah, I am, now let go of my shoulders. People are watching us carefully .."

"Who cares if they watch? They should know I love my twin and would protect him at all Cost!"

Ethan looked at Aiden with a weird look indicating something to him by his face. Aiden understood Ethan got cringed hearing that so he removed his hand from his shoulders or Ethan might get mad judging from his face. He laughed away saying he has work and went away.

Ethan sighed thinking what a clingy brother he was. He's more like a dog moving around its owner out of happiness. He meant it as an idiom, not in reality. He loved his brother too as well.

Lanier was standing there the whole time with a robotic face like he always does. "Your Highness, do you have anything to say to me ?"

"I feel like rather you have something to say to me ", Ethan asked.

"Well, your brotherhood is very sweet"

"Ugh, whatever!", Ethan pinched his forehead. He wanted some fresh air and so he went to the garden.

On the other hand, Marlin was still busy escaping life and death situation. Moreover to think she had to encounter "him" like "this" of all places. She was too embarrassed to even speak and that wasn't part of the plan at all. She went downstairs immediately after having an awkward encounter with the prince yet she feels like her plan doesn't feel fulfilled yet.

"Should I try meeting him again ?", "But he might be suspicious and would kill me !"

She looked here and there. In the end, she saw Sasha and found a way. She immediately went up to her. Poor Sasha; she just met a handsome guy who asked for her hand in a request to dance.

Sasha was happily agreeing to him by reaching out her hand to him and Marlin caught that hand.

"Sorry, but she's with me !", she said.

"Oh, looks like you have a partner already. Too bad I'll try asking another lady then !" He bowed and then left to another place.

"Nooo, wait !", Sasha called out to me but that man didn't respond any further.

There goes Sasha's path to a loving future. She glared back at Marlin because she recognized immediately when she heard her voice. But I think she would interrupt them; maybe it's important.

" I want you to take me to the dressing room so that I can change back to a lady. This disguise is hella tiresome ?"

"..for only that ?", Sasha glared.

"Of course, it's more important that you dance with a random guy!"

Sasha shoot a glare that might kill Marlin but she sighed because indeed it would lead her to trouble if Marlin gets caught by a guy. She took her to the dressing room and ordered a dress from the maids and fixed Marlin up. She now looks like a pretty fine lady.

Marlin looks pleased by looking at the mirror of herself then ran away saying, "I have work to do! Leaving Sasha standing there alone while she had expected this beforehand so she waved back with a robotic look ."

As Marlin went into the ballroom, she finally realized she messed up. She was so focused on being not killed by her prince that she forgot about her own family. If she gets caught she will be grounded who knows for how long.

"No need to enjoy tonight, I already had enough for the whole occurrence .."

Being sad she went to the garden to cool her mind. As she was sitting by the bench, she started hearing some strange noise from the bushes. It seemed like two men were talking about something in secret. As she leaned behind the bushes to hear what it was. She was frightened because it was unexpected.

"Tonight, I wasn't able to kill Prince Ethan today!", said one man.

"Yes, but we have to accomplish it since it was given orders from the guy who we work under", said another.

"We have to accomplish it by today or tomorrow or else we will be killed anyway for not accomplishing..", the man began to be worried.

"Someone better take care of Prince Aiden too. He's a threat to us !"

"But first should be Prince Ethan since it's given orders from him " Let's go the time isn't that much left or we will be in a problem.

Marlin kept her hand in her mouth. She was so frightened to the point that she can't speak. But she couldn't hear the main words they were saying like who gave them orders ?? As she grew closer she made a huge noise.

*Thud*

The strangers were surprised knowing there was someone eavesdropping on them. They began shouting at whoever was there with the intent of killing; to leave no evidence behind.

"WHO'S THERE??"

Marlin was petrified and now what's she gonna do ?? She was in trouble since she can't move her body out of fear as they grew closer to where the sound was.
