Chapter 60 : Truth

While Everi finally saw the person she was hiding from. Her reaction was priceless.

"That's... Prince Aiden? What is he doing here?"

As she hears Prince Aiden's footsteps approaching, she is surprised that it is him. She does not know what to think and questions the reason for his late-night visit.

She continues to listen as Aiden approaches, her mind filled with all sorts of questions. Why is he here? And why is he sneaking around at night?

The more time goes on, the more she feels her anticipation and excitement building up.

"Well, since he is here anyways... I guess I could tell him my honest feelings."

Everi, despite her earlier hesitation, could feel her heart not fluttering the more she thought about Aiden. She knew that she was never meant to be with him, but with Prince Mathias. As her curiosity grew, she found herself wanting to know what Aiden's intention was with his late-night visit.

As she wondered about her feelings, her thoughts turned from one of caution, to one of optimism and excitement.

"I should tell him the truth... That I was never in love with him but rather with Prince Mathias."

Her heart was beating faster as she considered her next words. She did not know how Aiden would react to her confession, but she knew she had to be honest with him. Her feelings towards Mathias had only grown, and she felt a sense of guilt for what she had done to Aiden. She could not lie to herself anymore.

She took a deep breath as she prepared to reveal her true feelings. It was now or never.

But when she was about to sneak out from the bush and confront Aiden . She saw something that traumatised her . It was those who ordered her to poison Prince Ethan and captured her little sister.

"What is happening? Those... Those prisoners were supposed to be in prison. Why are they here? And with Prince Aiden too?"

She feels her heart sink and her mind fill with confusion as she sees the prisoners with Prince Aiden. She could not believe her eyes. How were they able to escape? And why are they here with him? What were their intentions?

As more questions clouded her mind, her heart raced and her thoughts spiralled out of control. She felt fear, uncertainty, and dread all at once, wondering what the prisoners had planned .

Aiden gave a dark look. While the prisoners while shivering with fear he said, "I had assumed your plan worked. I thought the poison you had given him... I thought it would be enough."

Prince Aiden looks irritated, speaking to the prisoners about the failed murder attempt. Even though he had never given his full backing to the prisoners' plans, he thought that they would've been able to accomplish their goal.

One of the prisoners said, "My lord, we... we tried. We followed your instructions to the letter, but... But it wasn't enough. We failed."

"Our apologies, Lord Aiden. We never meant to fail you", said the other. "It was because of that Everi's fault..."

Aiden scratched his head."Damn that slut. I thought she liked me to the point I would ask her myself to kill him for me. But looks like it's all useless even if I ask her.."
