Chapter 55 : Necklace

Everyone stood in shock and silence for a moment, unable to comprehend the tragic loss. They all looked at each other with a sense of disbelief and concern, wondering who was responsible for the death of the Empress.

A tense and uncomfortable silence filled the room, and no one was eager to be the first to speak. They all knew that someone had committed this terrible act, but they did not know who it was.

As they contemplated the tragedy that had just occurred, there was a sense of fear and concern in the air, a sense that this was only the beginning of the crisis that was to come.

"We should call the guards immediately. Someone must have killed the Empress, and they could still be here in the palace. We must send the guards to apprehend them as soon as possible", Ethan orders.

Ethan runs towards Mathias who was standing like a stone looked like someone whose world is collapsed before him.

"Get a hold of yourself , Mathias!"

"I-I...

" We haven't caught the killer yet. Do you plan to remorse here like a fool while he escapes?!"

"You're right . We must call the guards immediately and start an investigation. We must find whoever killed my mother and hold them responsible for this terrible act", Mathias said in soft voice.

He didn't move his head. "But-

He spotted a necklace. A very plain necklace laying around the empress chair below. He picked it while looking at it while Ethan orders the royal guards to catch anyone suspicious.

He looked at Marlin and picked her up.

"I am taking her up to my room. Lady Everi, please take care of Sylvia..."

"Yes, your highness", Everi bowed. She looked at Mathias . Her heart felt like it sank . She never saw him making such an expression. She came closer to him while he said something-

"Do you think its really a he...? The culprit?"

"Pardon?"

Mathias took Everi's hand while giving her something. While Everi seemed confused to what it was ; her eyes widened with shock.

"No... it cant be...", She said. "It doesn't make sense at all in no circumstances!"

Ethan carefully carried her to his bed , laying her down gently and with a sense of care for her well-being.

He checked her breathing and pulse, making sure that she was still alive and trying to monitor her vitals. They were filled with a sense of concern and apprehension, trying to do whatever he could to help Lady Marlin.

He squeezed her hand, "Why do you tend to get yourself in trouble..please wake up..."

The royal doctor came in.

"Doctor , thank goodness you're here. Lady Marlin fainted, and I'm worried about her. Could you please take a look at her and see what might be wrong?"

"Of course, Prince Ethan. Let me examine her."

The doctor quickly moved over to Lady Marlin, taking a look at her vitals and checking her pulse. He was filled with an air of professionalism and expertise, eager to help provide treatment and care for Lady Marlin. He was determined to do whatever he could to help in this situation.

"Its the second time she's here isn't it?"

"Yes. She should be careful...", Ethan looked worried.
