Epilogue: Another Life
Hazel sat on the couch in front of the television.
She could hear Melanie and Conrad debating what to make for dinner.
When the group had arrived in Calamar, they had made a life for themselves.
Hazel acquired more money and they bought themselves a house in the country, away from anyone who might get suspicious of a group of teenagers living by themselves.
Melanie and Alice (in young adult form) both got themselves jobs. Hazel, Aimee, Conrad and Ruby continued their schooling.
That had been a month ago.
Hazel’s attention was brought back to the present.
Alice came and sat on the couch beside her.
The television flicked to an article that caught the attention of both Hazel and Alice.
As Hazel watched, a figure was shown in some camera footage, someone very familiar.
“Guys, come and look!” Alice shouted.
Melanie, Aimee, Conrad and Ruby rushed into the room.
“Now for world news:
Yesterday, the Prime Minister of Amaria, Philip Mercedi, was taken into police custody on the charges of assault and murder. A trial will be held on Thursday evening regarding Mr Mercedi’s fate.
We do know that Mr Mercedi will be resigning from his position as head of the Collective Party. The role will be going to Malcolm Young,” a newsreader announced on the television.
A small cheer went up amongst the teenagers in the small living room.
“Also in Amaria,” the newsreader continued. “a rebellion has risen against the government. They are working to abolish the law against paranormal abnormality.”
Another cheer went up, for this law had been the cause of every problem that they had encountered.
Hazel smiled.
Maybe one day, they would go back to Amaria.
