Evelyn was now ten weeks pregnant and was finding that this pregnancy was more challenging than her other two. For one, she had more morning sickness. Two, she was definitely more moody.
But do not be confused with her moodiness in relation to how she felt about Meghan.
They do not go together. In fact, how she felt about Meghan started before she was even pregnant. Unfortunately, the circumstances in which Meghan had brought not only to herself but also the Royal family had caused more harm than good.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Her mum asked her as they were in the kitchen.
"Mum, I'm fine, I promise," Evelyn let out a small laugh as she took a skewer and added a bell pepper on it to make a vegetable kebab that they were making. She added mushrooms and tomatoes along with grilled brussels sprouts too.
"Well, I just don't understand why you are missing so much work. You never do..."
Think of a lie, Evelyn. A little white lie never hurt anyone.
"I'm taking a little step back and letting Meghan see what it would be like to be a duchess is all," Evelyn shrugged her shoulders.
"But won't her charities be different than yours?" Natasha questioned.
Damn. Her mum was a smart woman and always questioned everything that wasn't routine.
"Yeah, they will," Evelyn cleared her throat. "But still. It would be good for her to see what it's like. The Queen agreed with me so it's settled."
They brought the vegetable kebab's over to the grill and let them sizzle as they touched it. Periodically, they would change the positioning of the skewers so that each of the vegetables would be grilled.
"Well, I'm sure the kids love having you home more often," Natasha smiled at her daughter.
"They definitely do," Evelyn let out a small laugh. "I don't think I've ever built so many forts and chased the kids playing tag so much in my life..."
Natasha laughed as well.
"They definitely keep you on your toes. But you and William are raising them to be great kids. Very polite and loving. They can be a bit wild sometimes but that's kids for ya. How are you and William doing? With the whole Meghan situation and everything..." her mum asked her daughter gently, not wanting to upset her.
"Thanks," Evelyn gave her mum a soft smile as it meant a lot hearing that they were raising great kids. That's all Evelyn ever wanted for her children. William and Evelyn had made it known to the Royal family and her family that they didn't want the children's titles getting in the way of their close knit family that they had formed. "They're doing good. Alexander is busy with school and all the kids have the sports programs they're apart of so we try to keep their minds off of what's going on. They miss Harry coming around and spending time with them but we're doing okay."
