Evelyn couldn't believe how much has changed in just a year. Ophelia was now one! And was walking everywhere it seemed.
There was snow falling outside as it swirled round falling aimlessly. The Cambridge household was decorated warm and Christmasy still as they loved to leave their Christmas decorations up at least until the second week of January to enjoy them longer.
William's face was pale as he stared at his mobile.
"Will?" She called her husband's name with no response. "William?"
She glanced over his shoulder to see Harry and Meghan were trending on social media and he had a post opened from their instagram page and her eyes widened in shock at the post.
"After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to support Her Majesty The Queen."
The statement continued but Evelyn couldn't read it anymore. She felt sick to her stomach.
"I think I'm gonna be sick," she said as she sat down next to him.
William and Evely woke up to the news that Harry and Meghan were leaving the Royal family via an Instagram post they made on SussexRoyal. They had already separated from William and Evelyn's office and had one of their own per the approval of the Queen.
To say they were in shock was an understatement even though this should have been expected.
Meghan and Harry had just come from their African tour and for some reason had the whole thing recorded for everyone to see. Tom Bradby who had done William and Evelyn's engagement interview also did this one which if Evelyn were being a little honest - stung. In the interview he did with Harry and Meghan in their African Journey it almost seemed like he sided with them.
Obviously, things hadn't been going well for Harry and Meghan for some time now but Evelyn thought that was just with them. She didn't think it was work related. So for this to come out was very out of left field and didn't sit right with her at all. Did The Queen know about this? How could she have? Obviously since it was a statement done on their instagram there was a big possibility that she hadn't been notified before they did this.
This feels like a break up and it feels official.
It technically was. Harry and Meghan wanted nothing to do with them anymore and William and Evelyn weren't really wanting a relationship with them either from all the hurt they caused. Especially if they couldn't own up to the mistakes they made. The hurt they caused.
