"Caught"

"Are stores selling towels twice longer?"

I chuckled. "Why? Para saan?"

We are wiping up after taking a quick shower para makaalis na. He dabs the towel on my chest.

"So you're wrapped to me," balewala niyang sagot.

I shook my head. "Just finish up. Will pick up Laverne."

I don't know what to think na may damit ako rito sa condo niya. O baka naman sa ibang babae ito?

Pagkatapos makapagbihis bumaba na kami. It's already 8:00 in the evening. Kumain na kami para diretso na ang paghatid niya sa amin.

"Pull over," I said nang matanaw ang sinabing café ni Laverne.

He parked his car. Tinanggal ko ang pagkakakabit ng seatbelt sa akin. I fixed a bit of my hair.

"Ako na lang ang papasok," sabi ko at binuksan na ang pinto para bumaba.

"Alright."

I walked towards the glass doors. Hinila ko at pumasok na. I looked around and saw Laverne with two girls and a guy on the far side. They're done at mukhang katatapos lang mag-dinner. Tama lang ang dating namin.

Naglakad na ako palapit sa kanila. Their eyes and attention turned to me. Laverne was composed. She gets her things.

"This is my sister Laviña," she introduced me with her stoic face.

"Good evening po." They politely greeted me.

I nodded.

"I'll go ahead," paalam ni Laverne sa kanila.

I think sanay na silang ganito makitungo ang kapatid ko. If you don't know her it's easy to conclude that she is rude and arrogant. If I am cold and snobby, she is twice or even more. She isn't a people pleaser and when she speaks, she is a bit sharp. Mama would remind her from time to time to tame such an attitude. Pero dahil hindi naman siya mahilig makipaglapit, then maybe it's fine.

"Saan naka park si manong?" aniya nang makalabas kami.

"Aris is taking us home."

Saglit na kumunot ang noo niya pero wala nang sinabi. Naglakad na kami sa direksyon kung saan naka park si Aris.

I opened the backseat for her saka ako umupo sa harap. I slammed the door close and fastened my seatbelt.

"How's school?" Sinulyapan siya ni Aris sa rearview mirror.

"Fine," ani Laverne.

"Do you need help or anything?"

Tinapal ko ang hita ni Aris. Napatingin siya sa akin. Damn this spoiler! Bata pa lang may potential nang maging sugar daddy.

"I can manage."

"Of course." He nodded. Pinausad na niya ang sasakyan.

We were all quiet while on our way to the house. I have nothing to say kaya tahimik lang din ako at pagsulyap-sulyap sa labas. When Aris' hand is free, he would place it on my knee. He would glance at me often at may mapanuksong ngisi. Napapairap na lang ako.
