Linopha was inside her moon dorm, writing a letter to her sister Lepidolite, who was back home. She had not yet eaten breakfast. Her stomach grumbled, begging for food.

Lujanne: Come and get it everyone!

Linopha's ears perked up. She ran outside to the wooden table in the clearing and sat down with everyone else.

Ezran: Good morning Linopha! Good morning Callum! Boy am I hungry, and so is Bait!

Callum: Well, breakfast is coming.

Ava ran out into the clearing followed by Ellis.

Ellis: Whoa, Ava! Come back here, girl!

Lujanne motioned to the table.

Lujanne: Elves and humans over here, and those with three or more legs can sit over there with Phoe-Phoe.

Lujanne gestured to a nearby clearing where her pet, the giant moon phoenix Phoe-Phoe, stood. There were four large bowls heaped with squiggling worm thingies. Ava, Zym, and Bait hopped over there and started eating.

Linopha: Your pet moon phoenix is named Phoe-Phoe?

Lujanne: Her name is short for Phoenix-Phoenix.

Ezran helped himself to a whole plate of cookies.

A vanilla cake with chocolate glaze caught Linopha's eye. She wanted to begin stuffing her face like Ezran, but she didn't want to be rude.

Linopha: Can we try anything we want?

Lujanne: Of course, dear. The choice is all yours.

Ezran's mouth was full and he was clutching as many pastries as his tiny little hands could carry.

Linopha cut herself a small slice of vanilla cake with chocolate glaze, and grabbed a piece with her fork. Then she chewed on it slowly and thoroughly. It tasted like it was supposed to, but something felt off.

Ezran: You have the best food up here! What's your secret?

Lujanne: My secret is... that it's all fake.

Callum: What do you mean fake?

Lujanne: You know, fake. They're delicious illusions.

Linopha: Then how come they're tangible?

Lujanne: You're actually eating grubs.

Linopha: I knew something was off!

Ezran: You mean, as in, "Oh, this is some good grub!"

Lujanne: Um, no. You see what Phoe-Phoe is eating?

Linopha looked over at the pet area, where the four animals had their heads buried in bowls of squirming worms.

Ezran: That bowl of worms?

Lujanne: Those are grubs. Not worms, but insect larvae. Extremely nutritious!

Ezran clutched his stomach. He looked like he was going to throw up.

Linopha (thinking): Good thing I only took a small bite.

Linopha looked at Ellis beside her, who continued chewing on a slice of blueberry pie. She was not grossed out in the very least.

Ellis: I don't care! Worms. Flies. Yesterday's garbage. This is the best illusion pie I've ever had!
