Callum: What do we do? How can we follow them when she's flying?
Linopha: Look!
Zym squirmed, trying to get away from Nyx.
Nyx: Hey, cut it out, you little zap monster!
Nyx couldn't fly properly with Zym doing that, so she and Zym both crashed into the ground.
Rayla grabbed a rope, attached one end to the ambler, and grabbed Linopha and Callum.
Rayla: Here we go!
They jumped off the ambler and landed on the ground.
Zym ran up to them.
Callum: Zym! You're okay. Sorry we lost you.
Nyx got up and tried to fly, but she couldn't.
Nyx: Help! Help me! My wings are hurt. I can't fly.
The sun set and nighttime arrived. Soulfang serpents emerged from the sand and surrounded Nyx.
Nyx: Soulfangs. Why did it have to be soulfangs? Please. You have to help me!
Rayla: Linopha, Callum, get Zym back to the ambler.
Linopha and Callum go back to the ambler while Rayla slices the soulfang serpents with her blades. Then Rayla and Nyx returned as well, and they kept riding through the midnight desert.
The next morning, Nyx dropped Callum and Rayla off at the edge of the midnight desert.
Callum: So, what do we do from here?
Nyx: Well, the dragon's lair is only about a day's journey. They call it the Storm Spire. Big, tall, mountainy-tower thing, pierces the clouds? You can't miss it. A word of advice, the air can get pretty thin up there. Bye!
Nyx mounted her ambler and left.
