Claudia was serving pancakes for everyone at the wooden table in the clearing.

Linopha bit into the fluffy golden pancake. It was delicious.

Linopha: Lepidolite, did you make these?

Lepidolite: How did you know?

Linopha: I recognize your cooking anywhere. It's absolutely amazing.

Lepidolite: Thanks.

Rayla eyed her pancake suspiciously.

Soren: Try it. Or are you scared?

Linopha: Lepi's cooking is the best. Trust me.

Rayla took a bite of her pancake.

Rayla: I have to admit... these are good.

Linopha: Told you.

Ellis: How did you get them so light?

Lepidolite: The secret is separating the eggs and beating the whites into a stiff meringue.

Claudia: And just a hint of dark magic!

Claudia turned to Callum and Ezran.

Claudia: So, now that we know you guys aren't kidnapped, you guys should come back home. With the dragon egg, of course.

Callum: Actually, there's no dragon egg.

Claudia started panicking.

Claudia: What!? What happened to the egg?

Callum whispered something to Ezran, who immediately left the table.

Callum: You'll understand in a second.

Ezran walked back to the table holding Zym.

Claudia: It's a baby dragon!

Claudia walks toward Zym, but Rayla throws herself between them.

Rayla: Get a good look, because we're headed to Xadia to return him to his mother.

Callum: Rayla's right. Sorry Claudia, but this mission is too important.

Soren: But the thing is, you really do need to come home.

Soren pauses dramatically, in thought.

Soren: Because the king- your dad- really misses you.

Linopha feels a sense of dread. She remembered seeing Rayla's binding come off, which meant that Soren was lying. And Callum and Ezran were going to know sooner or later.
