A Killer's Obsession

Chapter 18

Aera Pov:

"Alright, is it all clear?" Lily asked Haewon who was scouting up ahead.

"Yeah, it looks like it." Haewon replied.

With that, we snuck inside the university. As we tiptoed around the marble halls, I felt Kyujin groan behind me.

"Hey Haewon? Before we meet your sweet boyfriend can we please stop by the nurse's station? Like no offense Aera, but my arms are killing me!"

I grinned.

"No problem."

After a quick detour and a transition to one wheelchair later the girls and I got right back on track. The person that Haewon had set us up with was none other than her boyfriend, who's name we didn't know. The only info we had was that he was 22, worked in the medical department, had a sweet smile and blue hair, and lived with 22 other brothers.

"Looks like someone's there." Kyujin whispered, peering into the classroom.

"Is it. . ." I began to say before Haewon burst inside the room .

"Jaemin!"

The male turned and smiled when he saw us.

"Babe!"

I heard Kyujin gag.

"So what did you need me so badly for, hmm?" Jaemin hummed gazing lovingly into his partner's eyes.

Haewon turned towards us.

"Jaemin, meet my friends and the rest of the fencing team, Aera, Lily and Kyujin."

Jaemin nodded and shook hands with each of us respectfully. He stopped when he met me.

"Oh dear, I hope you recover soon, Aera."

I paused and soon noticed that my friends had also grown quiet.

"Babe, you did say you're majoring in medical engineering right?" Haewon finally broke the silence.

Jaemin nodded.

"Yes I am, why?"

"Does that mean you've worked with prosthetics?" Lily added.

"Yes. . ."

"So you could make one if someone asked you too right?" Kyujin finished.

"Yes again. Now why are you guys asking me this?" Jaemin stammered.

I sighed.

"Jaemin. . . can you keep a secret?"

A few minutes later I stared down at a now traumatized Na Jaemin who looked like he was about to collapse and was only standing up with the help of Haewon.

"Th-ey cut off yo-ur limbs?"

I nodded.

"Unbelievable isn't it?"

"Ho-w on eart-h did you e-scape?"

"We rescued her!" Kyujin piped up.

"W-hen?"

"Yesterday during lunch break." Lily replied back calmly.

"But th-at's ille-gally breaking in and e-ntering!" Jaemin stuttered.

"Babe. Please we need you to keep this a secret." Haewon whispered.

Jaemin grimaced before responding.

"Fine. What do you need me to do?"

"I need you to give Aera a new arm and leg." Haewon answered.

For the next hours the girls and I watched as the male worked tirelessly throughout the night, welding metal, tweaking gears, and adding wires. As the sun rose in the sky Jaemin finally set down his screwdriver.

"It's finished."

I glanced upwards.

"Is it really?" Haewon gasped.

"We'll see. Girls could you lift Aera onto the table please?" Jaemin asked.

I fought back a laugh as I was suddenly hoisted into the air by my friends alongside some groans from Kyujin.

"God Aera! What did they feed you over there?" She choked out.

"I don't know, girl. I barely paid any attention to what they gave me." I replied, chuckling.

I took a deep breath as I felt the cold counter of the lab table make contact with my bare skin.

"Alright Aera, I'm going to attach them. Relax for me, alright?"

I nodded. Moments later it was finished. I opened my mouth in awe at the shiny new metal of my limbs.

"Oh my god, Aera! You look so dope! Try moving them!" Kyujin exclaimed excitedly.

I raised my leg up and down as well as opening and clenching my fist.

"Wow! How do they stay on?" Lily mused.

"Suspension and vacuum suction." Jaemin replied calmly.

"How are they moving?" Haewon asked.

"Signals from her muscles which send electrical pulses and move the limb." Jaemin answered.

"I can't believe this. . ." I muttered, slowly getting down from the table.

"I CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE THIS!" I yelled running around the classroom.

"Aera! You're walking again!" Haewon smiled and hugged my waist.

"And it's all thanks to you guys."

I bowed to Jaemin.

"Thank you so much!"

Jaemin grinned.

"Sure thing. I'm glad it works."

"Do y'all want to go to the Kangaroo to celebrate?" Kyujin suggested.

"Sure!" I replied.

"Jaemin, how about you?" Haewon asked.

The man shook his head.

"You girls go on and enjoy yourselves. I gotta clean all this lab equipment up."

Haewon nodded.

"Alright girls. Let's go!"

As we left, I suddenly heard a phone beginning to ring.

"Whose phone is that?" I asked.

"Mine! Just a second!" Lily exclaimed.

As we waited I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. Life was starting to get better, I had gotten away from those 13 killers, I had gotten a new arm and leg, and I was reunited with my friends. Life couldn't possibly get worse. . .

"Guys!"

We turned towards Lily whose face was pale.

"Lily? What's wrong?" Haewon questioned.

"We need to go to The Kangaroo. Now."

"Why? What's wrong? Did Minho eat all the lox and cream cheese bagel sandwiches again?" Kyujin added.

"No. It's worse. They've kidnapped Felix."
