Chapter 20

Kyujin Pov:

I groaned and set down the sheet of paper that was in my hands onto the mahogany table in front of me.

"I'm so booooooooooooooooored!"

Lily glanced at me, and clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"Pay attention Kyujin, this could save our lives."

"Ugh. I know I know."

I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder and turned to see the butler, Eunhyuk staring at me carrying a platter filled with an assortment of drinks.

"Would you like a refreshing beverage, Miss Kyujin?"

I nodded and tiredly accepted a lemonade. Wait butler? Where were we? Well, after the little incident at The Kangaroo, Haewon had called her boyfriend to ask if we could crash over at his place for a while. The poor boy. He had just heard traumatic news with Aera's limb removals and now we were asking him to hide us like refugees. I was shocked when Jaemin agreed to take us in, but my disbelief grew when I learned that he was a millionaire.

"What the hell?" I had exclaimed when Chris, Aera, Lily, Haewon and I had arrived at the mansion.

"Haewon. Your boyfriend is a millionaire?" Lily added.

Haewon smiled.

"Yep. But it's not his money I'm after. It's his heart. Isn't that right, babe?"

Jaemin gazed down at his partner with loving eyes before swooping her into a passionate kiss.

"Okay you two. Break it up. We got work to do. Chris, are you fine walking on your own or do you need help?" Aera sighed.

"I'm good, thanks." Chris stated, standing up.

I nodded vigorously.

"Yeah! Let's get cracking!"

A solid four hours later, I was starting to regret saying that. Aera had written tons of notes explaining each of the thirteen killers and their individual traits. The first thing I learned about them was that they were called Seventeen.

"Why are they called that? Aren't they made of thirteen members?" I asked when I first heard the name.

"Yes they are, but the name stands for 13 members, 3 subunits, and 1 whole cohesive group." Aera explained.

"Why on earth are they a group aren't they a bunch of serial killers?" Chris muttered.

"They worked as Kpop singers before the Entity turned them into murderous maniacs. I guess they kept the title." Aera replied.

The front door opened and Haewon, Lily and I glanced up to see that Chris and Jaemin had returned with dinner. Fried chicken. Yum!

"Fucking finally. I'm starving!" I groaned.

"Hold on Kyujin." Haewon called out behind me.

"What?"

"Let's do a quick quiz before we eat."

"Whyyyyyy?"

"To be safe."

I stared at Lily who had just disappeared from the room presumably heading towards the kitchen.

"Why does she get to go and I don't?"

"Because I trust her."

"You don't trust me?" I yelped.

"Not when it comes to studying, nope. I've seen you on your phone during Professor Hongjoong's classes."

I let out a frustrated groan.
