Chapter 24

Kyujin Pov:

"Oh wow look at all the different outfit options there are!" I squealed, swiping my hands in the air as set after set of clothes appeared and disappeared in front of me.

Lily chuckled nervously, while Aera and Haewon remained silent with a stoic expression.

"Haewon? Did you hear me? Look at these thigh high boots! They're so your style!"

"Looking good doesn't matter if the clothes are going to be soiled with blood, Kyujin." I heard Haewon sigh.

"Yeah. Do you understand the risks that are at stake here? Aera could lose her freedom and be enslaved to live with those monsters, the boys could lose their lives, and we could also be trapped in this world!" Lily groaned.

"Sorry. I was trying to get our minds off the match." I mumbled, rubbing the back of my neck.

"No worries. I understand that you guys are unnerved. I was too during my first few games." Aera smiled weakly.

"How many did you play?" I asked.

"Near 52,615 games." Aera replied.

Haewon, Lily, and I all gasped in shock.

"Seriously?" Lily exclaimed.

"Yep. So I'm going to go over a few rules with y'all. First, how many generators must be completed?"

"Four." Haewon answered.

"Correct."

"You sure we can repair those things? Like I have no experience in machinery." I muttered.

"There shouldn't be any problem. Seems like once you enter the Rift, the Entity gives all survivors the common knowledge on how to fix generators. Next, what's the plan?" Aera continued.

"We do the gens, you take care of the looping unless we are forced off it." Lily replied.

"Good."

"Okay so I'm not sure which map we'll spawn in first bu-"

Suddenly a ringing noise sounded and we all glanced up to see that a glowing cube had suddenly appeared in front of us.

"Isn't that the thing that we used to enter the Rift in the first place? What's it doing here?" Haewon murmured.

"It's time." Aera spoke slowly.

Stepping forward, the girl gently knelt by the object, cupping her hands around the cube and walked back to us.

"Steady yourselves. The game's about to begin."

We held hands and I braced myself as light suddenly flashed around the room along with the sound of wind. I felt myself floating and then nothing.

When I opened my eyes I found myself standing in a yard full of scrap, car and bus remains, along with the occasional patch of trees.

"Guys?" I called out.

Almost instantly I heard 3 other voices in my head.

Bold - Aera

Italics - Haewon

Underline - Lily

"Hey Kyujin! Where the heck are we?"

"I'm here!"

"The first realm or map, it's called Wrecker's Yard. There won't be any other main building here besides the killer's shack."

As I prepared to speak, I suddenly noticed a muscular figure appear out of nowhere. S.Coups.

"Crap guys! S.Coups is here!" I whispered.

"Okay okay. Kyuin, you, Haewon, and Lily get on generators. Can you describe your location?" Aera asked.

"Yeah. Near some sort of small shack." I replied quietly slowly walking away from the man who was beginning to search the area near me.

"Got it. Looks like Haewon and Lily are working on a gen. Think you can make your way over where they are?"

I nodded.

"Yeah-"

I yelped as I felt a strong hand lift me up by my shirt collar.

"Too easy. What on earth was Aera thinking, challenging us? Well time for you to go onto a hook I guess." S.Coups sighed.

"Shit guys! He's got me!" I thought, sending a message to my teammates. Almost immediately I was flooded with responses.

"WHAT? YOU'RE KIDDING ME RIGHT?"

"How? Already? Aera! What do we do?"

"Keep calm everyone. Kyujin, where is he taking you?"

I paused.

"Down into the basement I think."

"Alright. I'll be there in jiffy."

I gulped as I felt S.Coups begin his descent down the stairs with me over his shoulder.

"Uh, now would be a great time for-oof!'

I grunted in pain as I was suddenly dropped onto the floor.

"Get up!"

Looking up I realized that Aera had arrived shining a flashlight into S.Coup's eyes. The male growled while covering his eyes from the beam.

"Park Aera! You little troublemaker!"

I gasped as I felt a hand pull me up and realized that Haewon and Lily had also arrived at the scene.

"Don't just lay there! Stand the fuck up!" Haewon yelled.

S.Coups had now fully recovered and was now glaring angrily at the four of us, a bloody hunting knife clenched tightly in his fist.

"I'll kill you three! I swear by the Entity I will!"

I gulped.

"Okay guys here me out. Let's run!"

There was no protest as we all scampered out from the shack and out into the junkyard. As I sprinted away, I couldn't help but notice a purple light descending onto us.

"Does anyone know what's going on?" I yelled.

"My body it's disintegrating!" Lily screamed.

"Calm down everybody! The realm's just changing! We'll be in a map area soon. Close your eyes and we'll be there in a minute!" Aera called out.

So I did just that. I closed my eyes and when I opened them seconds later the landscape had indeed changed. Instead of a scrappy junkyard, there was instead a field covered with hundreds of mossy buddha statues.

"Isn't this lovely?" I muttered.

I released a shaky sigh. The first round was complete, but now the second was just about to begin.
