Chapter 41

°Fynn

Marisa and Michael persuaded Harriet to consider Therapy. We both agreed that the first session will be with her alone and that she would like me to join her after that.

So, I currently sit patiently in the waiting area and have a stare off with a little girl, who's been sticking her tongue out at me for 3 minutes straight.

Her mother is busy with filling out the application form.

Because I'm definitely not asshole I give her the ring finger instead of my middle finger. My gesture means something along the line of 'your doll is really ugly'.

She looks at me shocked and clearly didn't get that I'm not flipping her off. For a moment I think she will start crying, but her eye brows tighten. She takes the little purse from her doll and throw it at me.

Or more like tries to, the purse lands exactly 2 inches in front if her feet. I hold a hand over my mouth and try to conceal my laugh.

She looks even angrier now but Harriet saves me from a possible attack of a 4-year-old, as she opens the door and steps out.

But I stop laughing when she stands in front of me with red eyes.

"Let's go to the car and then we can talk about today." I say and open the door for her.

Harriet gave me her puppy eyes after we talked about the first meeting and now, we're sitting in the car with frozen yogurt in our hands.

I already know that she will makes this a ritual after ever therapy session and I also know that I will not stop her.

Because Harriet's parents didn't know what to get me for Christmas, they gave me their numbers as a gift. Or rather the offer that I can call or write when for example I need someone to babysit Theo or even when I just need someone to talk to.

So, Theo is currently playing with Ella.

I am very grateful for that and it made me feel silly that I only got them both a voucher for the cinema.

But the best gift was from Harriet. She composed a song and dedicated it to me. I let her play it so often that at the end of the day I was able to play it myself without even needing the notes.

"Did you hear from Dylan or Luke." I ask and spoon strawberry ice cream into my mouth.

"Both had written me a few months ago and asked where I was because I didn't show up at lunch. In school we talked a bit but it were only weird conversations. I think one of the other said something and now they think bad about me."

"I don't think that's true. They asked me a few times what had happened and why for example Aiden and I aren't friends anymore but I told them that if they want to know they need to asked you."

She just shrugs and stares out of the window. Throughout the last weeks her motivation to care about some things has left and an indifference has spread. I know that this isn't a good sign but I try not to worry too soon.

She is in therapy now she will be fine

I care a lot about her and don't want her to slip into depression.

"Noah's coming back next month, you're excited?"

"More like really nervous, I'm afraid he will be really mad at me for not telling him a lot of things."

"Why would he be mad?"

"For example, he really hates you." I look at her with big eyes.

"He hates me? How? He was always nice when I saw him."
