Chapter 12

°Harriet

Even though training has exhausted me today, I still make myself to put on shoes and my jacket and begin my typical walk through the forest.

Fortunately, I have headphones with me this time. I go the usual way as always, accompanied by calm music.

As my hands make contact with the inner site of my pocket, I feel Ethan's note.

I take it out and look at the handwriting, which is neater than I expected it from a boy. And the wording of his sentences seems a bit different from how guys normally talk.

I would have thought that after all that has already happened that he has slowly had enough of me, but his patience is remarkable.

I'm happy he is still interested in me and can't wait to learn more about him.

When I reach the pavement in front of my property, I hear someone calling my name from afar.

Ethan and his mother are walking across the street towards their house. Both carry bags filled to the top with groceries.

"Hello Harriet, nice to see you." His mother says.

"Hello Clara, Hallo Ethan. Nice to see you too."

"Hi Harriet, what are you doing out here so alone?" Ethan asks with a smile and waves his free hand.

"I walk through the forest every day. You know, listen to some music and clearing my head."

"Oh, that sounds nice, where is the forest? Maybe I make my morning run on the weekends in the forest now." She asks.

I explain the way and tell her that at the beginning of the woods she will see 2 paths, one which takes a little longer than the other.

"Maybe we can go for a walk together." Says Ethan with a smirk.

Clara shakes her head a bit and answers him before I can.

"Didn't you hear her? She is doing it alone to clear her head and listen to some music. Don't bother this cute girl during her alone time."

I smile a bit because she worries about me in such a motherly way.

"No problem, Clara." I now look at Ethan. "You wouldn't bother me don't worry." I say to him.

"I'm sorry but the bags are starting to get heavy." Says Clara and grimaces her face a bit.

"Come home well, goodbye." I return and wave to both.

They say goodbye as well and I turn to my house and make my way to the front door.

"Hello?" I call into my house after closing the door behind me.

"Hello Harriet, how was the walk." Asks my dad and comes to me.

"Relaxing, the fresh air after practice was what I really needed."

My father hugs me and gives a quick kiss on my head.

"When's the game tomorrow?" He asks while we're both walk into the living room.

"At 3 pm. Do you and Mom come?" I ask with the hope that both have to work, because my father is always a bit to euphoric during my games and I don't want my friends to see my father and Noah scream my name like two maniacs, again.

"Where?" My mother joins the conversation.

"To her game, Marisa." Says my dad.

"Oh, unfortunately I can't, sweetheart." She says and gives me an apologetic look.
