//Will POV//
"NO!" Tessa bursts out.
Choruses of other complaints ring out in the room.
"Anything beside that. ANYTHING!" Tessa tries to negotiate with Marbas.
"Give it up, Tess. You're not going to change its mind," I gently tell her.
The demon chuckles with cold humor, "Listen to the boy. My master gets what he wants."
Knowing arguing won't get her anywhere, Tessa just glares at the blue skinned demon.
"It's okay, Tess," I tell her in my most soothing voice I can conjure up. "I'll go, it's just like when you sacrificed yourself for Jem."
"I know. I know," Tessa says hopelessly. I nod and put my arm around her to comfort her and to comfort myself.
"I will go, but I request a private goodbye with my fiancé. No monitoring of whatsoever. I want complete isolation so I can bid my goodbyes," I tell Marbas.
He gives me a thoughtful, but slightly maniacal look.
"I will grant you your wish. You have 5 minutes. Now go. My master does not like to be kept waiting," Marbas gestures with his hand to proceed.
I grab Tessa's hand and tug her to our temporary isolated room.
"Will, what are y-."
I cut her off.
"Alright. Listen and listen closely, Tess. There is a house. Not far from here. Its undetected by any downworlders. Jem and I are the only living souls that know it exists," I hurriedly tell her while rifling though our drawers to find what she'll need.
"The house is already stocked with food. When you get there, your tracks will go cold. No one will be able to track you, but once you step foot outside, they will be notified.
Tessa just stares at me in shock, but I know she is taking in everything I say. I hand her the key I found in the drawer.
"The key I've given you is the only key to the safe house. Don't lose this. It's imperative," I add.
"I'm sorry, Tess. You shouldn't have to go through this. The Mortmain situation was enough trouble for a life time, but listen Tessa. Never lose hope. We will be united again. I don't know where. I don't know when, but we will see each other again," I assure her.
(A/N that rhymes :) )
"And I never break my promises," I look her dead in the eyes. Her grey eyes I have come to adore. There's a certain sparkle of determination I hope will never leave.
She throws herself at me for a hug. I immediately oblige and wrap my arms around her.
We are losing precious time.
"Ok, Tess. Listen to me. Stay strong. Never lose hope. Summon the Silent Brothers and request for Brother Zachariah. The Silent Brothers have already been notified of our..... situation. Then Jem will take you to the safe house."
I place a kiss of goodbye on her forehead and bring her in for what may be our last hug for a long time.
"And Tess, you can bring one person with you. A person you trust with your life and can stand to be in small quarters with. Choose wisely," I add hurriedly.
//Tessa POV//
Everything is happening so quickly.
Apparently, Will and Jem have some sort of secret house that is void of detection.
It's too much for my head to wrap around at this moment.
"We must go now, Tess. We don't want Marbas to become suspicious," Will says urging me to get a move on. I nod in agreement. Still in too much shock to do much else.
Will leads me back to the buzzing room. Cecily looks at us with curiosity burning in her bright blue eyes. I give her a helpless look. What am I to do?
I can't explain to anyone of my plan. We want to avoid the word getting out about the safe house. This house is only used in dire situations. Will told me as much as he could in the time allotted for our goodbye.
"Are you satisfied?" The demon asked with a malicious smile. Evilness practically oozing from every pore of his body.
"Yes. Actually," Will says quite confidently.
"Well, that's that. Let us depart, Mr. Herondale," Marbas gestures me to step into the pentagram.
Tentatively, I slowly walk forward.
// Tessa POV//
Marbas signals Will to enter the pentagram. He walks slowly. The demon looks impatient. The second Will's body has crossed the invisible boundary in the air. There's a flash of blinding light and they're gone.
Will's gone.
