// Will POV //

Henry leads all of us down to his lair of some sort. He said he had a plan, but not a good one. I'm not feeling very confident on dealing with the demon problem right now.

"When I first heard of the Tessa's demon issue I got to work right away. To help solve the problem, I've made this," Henry says gesturing to a small contraption made of metal.

"What does it do?" Cecily asks voicing the question everybody had.

"It's summons up a demon of your choice and traps it in a confined space. You can interrogate it without it escaping. When the Freezer, that's what I named it, is activated the demon's connections to anybody or anything outside the space is cut off," Henry states proudly.

"Can we use it now," Gabriel asks with his eyebrows raised in a skeptical way.

"Almost, I just need to test it first before we bring in a stronger demon. It should be ready in 2 days time," Henry informs us.

Tessa stands there with a blank expression. It's probably hard for her to take it all in. She's only been introduced to the shadowhunter world for a couple of years. I've known about this stuff since I was 12 and I still get surprised with the things we have to do or read in the codex.

I walk up behind her, then I wrap my arms around her in a sudden movement. Tessa gives a little shriek. She elbows me and twists my arm and puts it behind my back. All within a few moments. I don't think she realized it was me, because when I say, "I surrender, Tess," she lets go.

"Sorry, Will. I guess I'm a little on edge. I'm worried that I'm putting you all in danger," Tessa explains. We are getting weird stares from Cece and Gabriel. I just brush it off. I get a lot of those in London. A dashing, handsome man is bound to get a couple glances.

" A little, Tess? More like there is a weight the size of Mt. Everest on your shoulders. You don't have to go through this alone. I'm here for you," I say taking her hand. She smiles down at our linked hands.

"Thanks, Will. You made this slightly more bearable," Tessa says before she gives me hug.

"And what are we? Chopped liver? We are here for you too, Tessa," Cecily bursts out saying causing Tessa to whip around in surprise. She hadn't realized everybody was listening in. Everybody murmurs their agreement. Gabriel chuckled at Cece's antics.

"Of course, we know Cece," I say while Cecily scoffs at my answer.

I hold my hand up to get everyone's attention.

"Hey, I'm going to take Tessa to rest. We've had a long day of traveling and we want to be alert tomorrow." I tell them while taking Tessa's hand to lead her up.

Everyone gives their consent. I know Tessa is tired because towards then top of the stairwell she slowed down to a snails pace. I scoop her up in my arms so she doesn't have to walk. Tessa doesn't object, she just snuggles into my chest and closes her eyes.

I smile down at her peaceful form. How did I get so lucky to have a girl like her.

"Because I'm fabulous," Tessa murmurs into my chest. I just said that out loud, didn't I? Whoops.

We get to our room and I manage to get the door open without putting Tessa down. I set her down on the bed in a sitting position. Initially, her eyes are open, but when I turn around from hanging my coat up, Tessa is fast asleep in the middle of the bed. I sigh. I don't want to wake Tessa up, but I also don't want to sleep in a chair. Deciding not to sleep on a chair, I try to roll Tess over without waking her. I succeed, but only just.

When I rolled her over she muttered something and clutched the sheets taking them with her. So I have no covers now. I sigh, realizing how tired I am. I slide my and Tessa's shoes off. Finally, I can lie down now.

Drifting off to sleep a lot of 'what ifs' cross through my mind.

What if Henry's plan doesn't work?

What if Tessa get hurt in the process?

What if everything changes for the worst?

What if we have to start over from scratch?

I guess I we'll find that out in 2 days.
