/ Will POV /

After our walk Tessa and I went directly to sleep. Skipping supper because the trek wore us out.

I woke up to an acidic smell. Tessa was pressed against me sleeping peacefully. It was still dark out, no light came through the windows.

I got up to check out what was making the horrific smell. Tessa squirmed in her sleep, then fell still again. I found out where the smell was coming immediately.

A dying demon was on our floor. It was in the last stage of life. Liquids oozed out and onto the floor. The demon was a purple mass of slimy skin with tusks as long as my forearm. It smelled simply awful. It looked at me with reproachful eyes, like somehow it was my fault it's was dying.

Then something caught my eye. There was red writing on the floor. I had a bad feeling that it was blood. It said :

"You have been warned, hand over the girl so we can dispose of her properly"

My breaths are becoming shallow. No! I must not panic, for Tessa's sake. I looked over and realized that the demon had died. All that was left was golden demon dust. It had gone back to its dimension.

I look over towards our bed and I am met with grey eyes. Tessa crawls out of bed, takes one look at the demon and stopped in her tracks.

"Wha...what is th-that?" Tessa manages to say in a stammer.
"What demon dust?" I say a little defensively. Wow smooth Will, she'll never know there was a demon.

"Oh, you know what I mean Will. If there is demonic dust then that means a demon died. So THERE WAS A DEMON INSIDE OUR HOUSE?" Tessa practically screams. "You know? I think I liked my Tess better when she was a quiet, meek girl. What happened?" I joke, trying to lessen the tension.

"Shut up! This is a big deal. Who would do this. By the Angel that note is disturbing." Tessa says while shuddering. "Now who would send this?" Tessa mutters to herself trying to sort everything out.

"Ok, well maybe we should get everyone together at the institute to come up with a theory and plan," I suggest. "Ok, that's a start to getting an answer," says Tessa. I go to send out the post to everyone. In the letters I lightly touch on the events that have happened, but don't go too much into detail in case it falls into the wrong hands. I inform them to meet us at the institute in 2 days time. I finish the letters, seal them, then send them off with Charlie to put them in the post office.

I enter into our room and see Tessa spacing out, she's just sitting on an ottoman looking at nothing in particular, eyes glazed over. Waving my hand in front of her face I say, "Anybody home?" to get her attention. She immediately snaps to attention, turning her gaze towards me. "Good news, I took care of all the letters, but bad news is we have to endure another bone rattling journey," I say smiling grimly, half joking, but then again not really.
