"Girl? Are you going to open the door for him or what? He's been there for ages," Michelle chides her friend.

Kim, looking straight at the hall, sighs. Something tells her not to open them. But she feels so bad to leave him there, not giving him a chance to explain.

Michelle gets up and goes to the hall.

"I will be leaving. You stay to talk to him."

Kim quickly jumps up and rushes after her friend.

Mick knocks on the door one more time, despondent. Kim seems to have no intention of opening it. With a start, the door opens, and Michelle rushes in, smiling at him.

"Kim wants to talk to you," she tells him.

Mick confusedly watches her as she leaves the apartment and turns his gaze inside, where he sees Kim in the semi-darkness, with her hands crossed.

"Kim?" Mick takes a few steps, reaching the door frame.

"Come in," she tells him in a weak voice.

He closes the door behind him and goes inside, into the living room.

Kim sits down on the sofa, looking down and clasping her hands together. It seems as if she is struggling to breathe, to find a normal breathing rhythm.

Mick sits down next to her, not very close though. He doesn't want to force the circumstances. Kim barely let him in.

She raises her wet and shaky eyes. A look drowned in pain.

"Kim..." He can barely find his words. "Let me explain..."

"Ok, explain," she nods, tightening the corners of her mouth, with a fixed look.

"What you saw... It's not what it looked like. Yes, I know. It sounds like a lie. Emi has the same gestures with the rest of the my band mates. It does not mean anything. I swear to you. She's just kidding. There is nothing between us. Although..." His gaze darkens, Kim impatiently waits to hear what he has to say. "I have to confess something to you. Something I should have told you for a long time. You see... Emi and I have a past together."

Hearing his last sentence, Kim is overcome by a wave of anxiety. Her muscles tense, and she glances at Mick with wide and nervous eyes. Expect to hear something worse from him.

"Emi and I were engaged, Kim," he says with a heavy voice. "Two years ago."

"What?" Her mouth is wide open. "You were engaged?" She feels her heart beating madly between his ribs. "Are you serious?"

"Yes, Kim," he nods, looking sad. "I know you should have known this long time ago. I'm sorry," he looks deep into her eyes, which are now producing tears, and grabs her hands. "But I swear there is no one else in my mind but you, Kim. I don't love Emi. I love you. Emi is a matter of the past. You are in my future."

"But you spend a lot of time with her," Kim withdraws her hands. "She is always with you at all concerts, tours... She is so close to you, Mick! And on top of this, she's your ex-fiancée!" She spats the last words that are so hard to pronounce now for her. "I don't like this... I..."

"Kim," Mick speaks calmly, running a hand over her heated face. "I am sorry. Please... There is no one else in my heart but you. You have to believe me."

Kim doesn't move his hand this time from her face. Her gaze is blank. Deep in her heart, Kim believes him. But it happened so suddenly. She needs time to process the whole situation.

"I want to be alone," she whispers and his hand falls from her face. "Please leave me alone."

"Kim..."

"Please," her voice rises a little but her facial expressions are just as calm. "I need time to think."

Other small tears gather in her brown eyes, breaking Mick's heart, knowing that he is the one who brought her to this state. He nods his head, getting up, giving her another look.

"See you later," he says, not sure that Kim will really want to talk to him later.

She doesn't say anything, she doesn't even move, looking down and more tears streaming down her face. He leaves the apartment, closing the door.

Kim looks out the window, watching him leave the building and get into his car. As he is in the car, more clouds and gray rain gather and it starts to rain, drops smashing against the hood of his car. And other drops are now flowing on Kim's cheeks as his car disappears from there.

She feels a huge emptiness in her stomach. The weather outside turns her feel even more miserable than earlier.
