149. mothers day

it's not even mothers day

Remus jumps out of the car to hug Elia and take her bag in the boot, Sirius sits in the passenger seat watching them.

She climbs in the middle seat and Sirius leans over to say hi. As they start the drive home Elia pulls some papers out of her bag.

"It's mother's day today!"

Remus nods and checks the mirror to see what Elia was doing. "Yeah? Did you do something fun at school for it?"

Elia grins and nods, she shows Sirius two papers she had drawn, colored and stuck things on. "I asked if I could make one for papas birthday coming up instead, because I don't have a mum, but my teacher frowned and told me no"

Remus and Sirius share a look, but fake a smile. "What did you make?" Sirius asks, Elia leans forward handing Sirius the two papers.

He gasps and shows Remus who smiles as well. "These are amazing, I'm sure auntie Lily and Grandma Hope will adore them!"

Elia smiles. "Can we give them today?"

Remus and Sirius communicate silently and they both nod. "They might have plans, so not for long but yeah we'll stop by!"

Remus and Sirius were going to visit Hope anyways, since she was like a mother to both.

Hope opens the door and grins when she sees the Lupin-Black family. "And what do we have here?"

She picks Elia, making her laugh and looks at the paper in the other. "I absolutely love this Elia!"

Elia gets shy and hides her face as Sirius walks over to grab Elia, Hope was starting to get old after all.

"We can't stay for long, but I thought we would pop by mum" Remus says and Hope rushes over to give him a hug. (Hugging Elia first was more important)

They stay for an hour, Elia eating Hopes homemade cookies, and soon enough they say their goodbyes.

In the car again, it was a 20 minute drive to the Potter's mansion, they got a 'Hell yeah!' from James asking to come over for a while.

They ring the doorbell and Lily answers with Harry stood at her knee. They all share hugs before sitting in the living room.

"I made this for you Auntie Lily! For mothers day"

Lily gasps and takes the pink paper with sparkles on, written in black sharpie. 'Happy mothers day, I love you, Elia'

Lily loves it, even though a teacher had clearly written it for her. Lily gives her a big hug and once she lets go she runs back to Remus and Sirius.

"I love it so much darling, why don't you see what Harry's up to?" Lily asks, Elia giggles and runs upstairs.

"Good night buttercup" Remus says kissing Elia's forehead. Elia smiles. "Good night daddy and papa!"

Sirius rubs her cheek lovingly and turns off the big light, only her fairylights making the room glow a dull orange.

"Daddy?"

Sirius and Remus turn around. "Yeah, what's up?"

Elia seems to hesitate, so Remus and Sirius walk back over to her, kneeling next to her bed. "Why don't I have a mummy?"

Sirius' face tenses for a moment, before relaxing and smiling gently. "Because me and your papa fell in love, some children have two mummys"

They had had this conversation a few times, but this was the first time Elia seemed to want a mum, and that broke Remus and Sirius.

"Was I adopted?"

Don't worry, they had also had this conversation many times, but Elia's head seemed to have a hard time processing it.

This time, Remus steps in. "Remember aunt Marlene? She made you, a bit of me, a bit of her"

Elia isn't shocked, having heard this many times. "But.. how?" She asks for the first time.

Remus hesitates, he didn't want to go into the process if collecting sperm. "Well.. I had a blood test, and they put a little bit of it into aunt Marlene to make her pregnant for us"

"She definitely wanted to get pregnant for us" Remus adds laughing hesitantly.

Sirius tries to hold back a laugh, a blood test Remus? Really?

"Oh okay" Elia says, seeming a bit disappointed. "Can I see Aunt Marlene?"

Remus and Sirius give her a soft smile. "She has sadly moved away with Aunt Dorcas, you saw her loads as a baby and toddler, hey why don't we facetime her tomorrow?"

Elia nods happily and gives her dads a hug, she seems happy with the answers she got.

Once they heard the door click shut, and had walked away from the door Sirius stops and puts his hands on his hips.

"A blood sample? What the fuck" He laughs and Remus laughs putting his head on Sirius' shoulder.

"I was put on the spot! She'll forget soon enough"

Sirius grins and pulls Remus into a small kiss. "I love you"

Remus smiles. "Love you too"
