We walked into the house, and I sent Crystal, Morgan, and Hermione to my room. Annalise and I headed into the kitchen.
"Remus! Sirius! Come here!" I called, settling her into a chair then settling myself beside her.
"What is-oh, hello there," Sirius said, entering the room. He turned to me. "Sarah," Remus said with a tone if warning, catching sight of her. "What have you done?"
"Rescued a little girl's soul," I replied innocently, then put the papers down in front if his chair. "You and Sirius can duel out who gets to be her primary guardian." I turned to Annalise. "Let's go see your room and read your letter."
I led her upstairs to one of the two spare rooms.
She gasped when she saw it. "It's perfect!"
Everything was pastel-it was definitely a little girl's room. The walls were pale yellow, the curtains and furniture a pale pink, and the bedclothes were a pale green.
"Do you really like it?" I asked.
She grinned and nodded, then flew at the bed.
"I can't believe it's mine!" She squealed.
I smiled softly at her. "Now, how about opening your letter?'
"Oh yeah!" She cried, then dove into her bag.
"Dear Ms.Annalise, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of...what?" She asked, interrupting herself.
"Witchcraft and Wizardry. You're a witch, Annalise, and so am I. So is everyone else here," I said. "'Cept the boys, anyways. They're wizards."
Her eyes widened. "Really?"
"Yup. We'll go get you-"
I was cut off by a shout from downstairs.
"I better go see what they're on about. You stay here, I don't want you to get hurt."
She nodded, and I left.
When I reached the bottom of the stair, my friends, Harry, and Ron were crouched behind a couch, the two latter having a silent fit of laughter.
Remus and Sirius were in the kitchen, throwing spells, hexes, and jinxes back and forth.
I sighed, and dove at Remus, who's back was to me, and tackled him.
I rolled off of him, then ran at Sirius and tackled him as Remus was standing.
Both scowled at me.
"What was that for! You said we could duel it out!" Sirius cried.
"I didn't mean literally! Merlin, did you want to terrify the girl?!" I shouted back.
"No," Remus sighed. "We just wanted to figure out who should adopt her."
"So you went to full-on duel mode?! You couldn't have played a simple game of rock, parchment, wand?" I asked, incredulous at their immaturity. "Maybe I should just adopt her!"
"What?! No!" Remus and Sirius cried in unison.
"You're fourteen!"
"You have no parental experiences whatsoever!"
"And?! I'm a female for Merlin's sake! Those things are supposed to kick in when I'm around children! Maternal instincts!"
"Still, the answer is no. Remus will be her primary guardian. I will be his financial backer," Sirius said.
"Financial backer?" Remus asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, yeah," said Sirius. "I have an account at Gringotts full of gold I'm never going to use. She can have it. Well, most of it."
Remus shrugged, and I grinned.
"See what we can get done when we talk calmly and work together?" I said in a mockingly sugary sweet voice.
"Oh shut up. Well, go get her. We'll go in a moment, once these papers are signed," Remus said, bending over the table with a quill.
I ran upstairs to Annalise's room.
"Ready to go?" I asked, and she grinned and nodded.
Ten minutes later, all nine of us stood in front of the orphanage.
"Lets go! I can't wait to show o-I mean...introduce everyone to my family," I said, causing everyone to roll their eyes.
Several hours later, we were back at home, this time with an official new family member.
