After I told her about gillyweed and the second trial few closer, Sarah seemed to grow distant again.

"Hermione, did I do something wrong?" I asked one night, watching Sarah cross the Common Room. "Sarah won't talk to me..."

"No, you didn't do anything Neville," she replied. "She's just stressed."

"Keeping it all in can't be good though..." I trailed off, worried.

"It's not," she agreed, "but good luck telling her that. She won't even listen to Madame Pomfrey."

Hermione followed her up the stairs, and I went to bed as well.

The next morning, an owl arrived for me at breakfast.

"What?" I asked, confused as I took the letter. "I haven't lost anything..."

Mr. Neville Longbottom,
I understand you are dating my goddaughter. If you break her heart, I will break you.
Signed, Sirius Black.

I gulped.

"What's the matter?" asked Harry, and I handed him the letter.

As he read, another owl landed in front of me.

Neville,
Ignore that last letter. Sirius is just being an idiot. We will send you a Howler if she so much as thinks about crying over you. Just saying.
-Remus Lupin

I chuckled nervously and traded letters with Harry.

"Who even told them?" I asked the trio.

Harry blushed as he handed Remus's letter back.

"Not me, that's for sure," he said, then rapidly changed the subject. "I'd listen to Remus."

I nodded slowly. "He does seem more rational...but Sirius also escaped Azkaban, what's to stop him hunting me down?"

Harry blanched. "Oh yeah. Just don't hurt her then."

He clapped me on the shoulder as he stood. "See you later, Nev."

"Bye, Harry," I replied.

I sat there for a bit, miserably confused as I stared at the letters.

(A/N~ I know it's short, but I've had finals and stuff recently, and I wanted to get you at least one chapter before Christmas. I hope I'll have another up soon. Thanks for your patience!)
