"I still don't like this," Hermione said as I climbed the tree carefully, clutching the egg under one arm.

"I don't-ah!" I shrieked as my hand slipped on its hold, causing me to nearly fall.

"Sarah, get down, you don't need to do this!" Hermione called.

"Yes I do, Hermione!" I shouted back, balancing on the branch stretching over the lake while I eased my way down it.

"Sarah, please, just get back down here!" she said worriedly.

"I can't Hermione. I've got to do this."

At that moment, Harry shrieked "SARAH!" from across the sprawling grounds.

"Sarah, don't do it!" Neville called after him.

I tried to turn around to see them, which caused me to slip and fall off the branch.

"SARAH!" was all I heard as I hit the water.

Once under though, I quickly tried to push my way back up to the top.

I had been fighting the water one-handed for about thirty seconds when a long, spindly hand grabbed my ankle.

I twisted around to find myself face to face with a grindylow.

"Relashio!" I tried to say, only to have bubbles escape my mouth and nothing happen.

The grindylow grabbed ahold tighter and started pulling me down, so I flailed around, trying to loosen its grip.

I eventually kicked it in the face and pulled myself up a bit, my lungs burning as well as my legs.

I swam upwards as fast as possible, heading towards the light growing larger every second.

Breaking the wager, I took a deep breath and screamed. "WHAT THE HECK HARRY! I NEARLY DIED BECAUSE OF YOU!"

"I thought that's what you were doing!" Harry cried, tears shining on his face. "I thought you were...you know-"

"We thought you were going to commit suicide," Neville interrupted, his face unusually pale and clammy, tears still falling steadily.

"Why in the name of Merlin would you think that?" I asked, still catching my breath.

"Ron was looking out the window in the library and saw you climbing the tree over the Lake and Hermione arguing with you, and we thought because of the Triwizard..." Neville trailed off.

I looked at them both. They were genuinely disturbed by the idea of me dying, but why?

"I wouldn't do that," I said softly.

"We didn't know," said Harry. "You've stopped talking to us! You've stopped talking to almost everyone!"

"I'm sorry," I whispered. "I didn't know if you still liked me...I thought you all thought I wanted this and that I put my name in the Goblet."

Harry and Neville were silent, then Hermione spoke.

"Ron did think you put your name in the Goblet, but after the first task, he believed that you didn't. Most people believe that you didn't."

I stayed silent this time. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay," said Neville quickly while Harry and Hermione nodded. "We understand."

I smiled crookedly. "Thanks. Does anybody know a safer way for me to listen to this?"

At that moment, Cedric walked up.

"Hey," he said. "Can I speak to you privately?"

"Er, yeah, I guess," I said, glancing quickly at my friends and noticing Harry and Neville glaring at Cedric.

We walked a few feet away, and Cedric leaned over and whispered in my ear.

"Do you know where the prefects' bathroom is?" he asked.

"Yeah..." I replied slowly.

"Go there after hours. The password is 'pine fresh'. Take your egg. The water will help."

He winked and smiled, then walked away, letting me walk back to my friends.

"What did he say?" Neville asked, his voice friendly but with a slight tremor, as if he were fighting anger.

"I've got a place to listen to my egg now," I replied. "Without it looking like I'm dying."

I waved goodbye and walked up to the castle to go study ways to survive underwater.

Well then. What an interesting turn of events. Does anybody know why Neville was so concerned and why he was glaring as well? I do, of course, but I'm not sharing!

I hope you guys are enjoying the story!
