Sarah stood on the edge of the pier, something slimy-looking and green in one hand, wand in the other as the other champions clenched their wands as well.
"Good luck, Sarah!" I cried over the crowd, Harry a nervous wreck beside me as I tried fruitlessly to calm him.
She turned, smiled a bit, then looked back at the black water of the Lake.
The whistle sounded and the other three dived in while Sarah stood, her jaw working. After a minute, she grabbed her neck and dived in.
"Ron, what if the gillyweed doesn't work?" Harry asked. "What if it stops working before she finishes? What if she gets caught? What if-"
"Harry, calm down!" little Annalise said from his other side. "She'll be fine, Dumbledore has got it all handled."
Harry breathed a shaky sigh then looked around. "Where are Hermione and Neville?"
Crystal answered. "Under water. Each champion had the person that matters most to them taken to the bottom of the Lake where they're being watched by merpeople until their champion comes to save them."
"Don't worry though, Dumbledore won't let the ones that aren't rescued in under an hour die or anything, he's got it all under control." Morganna finished, and Crystal nodded.
"Neville is Sarah's," Annalise gushed. "Hermione is Viktor's."
The other two girls squealed in response. "I think Cedric's is Cho Chang, and I'm pretty sure I heard Madame Maxime say something about Fleur's little sister being hers," Morganna said quietly.
Crystal made a strange noise. "That's so sweet, her sister being the most important thing in her life!"
I looked at Harry. "Is this how girls usually act?"
"I've no clue, Ron," he replied, stunned out of his nervousness.
"Look!" someone in the stands cried, and all eyes turned to the Lake. Fleur was swimming back, her arms and face scratched pretty bad, no one following her or in her arms.
"Ze grindylows! Zey attacked me!" She sobbed as Madame Pomfrey wrapped her in a towel. "No! No, you must let me go back- I have to save her!"
Fleur fought tooth and nail to dive back into the water, but both Madames Pomfrey and Maxime refused to let her back
"It's outside the hour," Annalise said, a twinge of worry in her voice.
A moment later Cedric came up, Cho on his back as he swam towards the pier.
"Just Krum and Sarah left," I muttered as Harry began to anxiously bounce on the balls of his feet.
Several minutes later, Krum showed up, towing Hermione behind his shark head. I felt a twinge of jealousy- why I have no idea.
"Where is she? She should be back by now!" Harry cried softly, hanging over the bar in anticipation.
Minutes passed, minutes that felt like eons.
Suddenly though, in the middle of the Lake three heads popped up- a bright red, a white blonde, and a light brown.
Cheers filled the stadium as the three began to swim back, but stopped dead when Sarah disappeared back under the water. Neville, too caught up in helping the little girl to the pier, didn't notice, but Harry did. I had to grab the back of his collar to keep him from jumping in.
"Don't, Harry. She'll be okay, just give her a mo'." I whispered, fighting him away from the edge.
It took longer than a moment, though, for Sarah to pop back up closer to us than she had the first time.
She was floating on her back, her eyes closed and her chest still as she slowly grew closer to the pier she had started on.
The first shriek to pierce the air was Hermione's, followed shortly by Fleur, and more and more until all that could be heard was screaming and crying.
A/N- CLIFFY!!!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AND I'M GOING TO WAIT FOR LIKE EVER TO POST THE SECOND HALF WHICH WON'T EVEN BE WHEN YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO HER SO HAHA.
Seriously though, next chapter will be this just in Sarah's pov. Sorry this is short.
How'd you like Ron's pov? I couldn't figure out who's I should do it in, so I just sort of...started writing, and it worked itself out ^.^
