I went to the Great Hall the next day in a whirl of happiness and fear.

"Hey Neville," Harry said when I entered. "What's up?"

"Hullo Harry," I replied. "I'm tired from all the dancing."

"When'd you get back last night?" he asked.

"About one," I told him. He nodded, which shocked me. I'd seen how overprotective he could get over Sarah.

"You know," Harry said. "I'm glad it's you."

I was confused. "What do you mean?"

"He means," said Hermione in exasperation as she approached. "That if anybody had to like Sarah, he's glad it's you."

"What?" I asked, still slightly confused, but slightly nervous now.

"Ugh!" she cried. "Men! Harry says it's okay for you to like Sarah!"

"Oh," I whispered, feeling my cheeks burn.

Hermione looked up quickly. "Come along Harry, let's get to class."

I looked in the direction Hermione was looking, and felt my blush deepen.

"Oh, no, you don't have to-"

"Yeah we do," Harry interrupted me. "I've got to-um...talk to Moody!"

"But we don't have class today!" I said. He grinned in reply and let himself be dragged off.

A moment later, a very tired-looking Sarah sat in front of me.

"Men are so lucky," she said softly, sounding half asleep.

"Why's that?" I asked, curious.

"They don't ever have to wear makeup." She buried her face in her hands.

I reached over and patted her shoulder. "You looked amazing last night, if that helps any."

She looked at me through her fingers, then looked away. "Thanks..."

I could almost sense her blush, and that made me smile.

"I had fun last night," she whispered after a bit.

"I did too," I replied. "We should do it again sometime."

She slowly looked up from her hands. "Are you-?"

I blushed. "I-I guess. I mean, are you saying no?"

She grinned. "Nah. After the second task is over, we'll go together on the next Hogsmede trip, okay?"

"Okay," I agreed readily, smiling.

"We had better get to the Common Room," she replied. "I saw Hermione practically drag Harry from the Hall when I came in."

I laughed. "I think they both like the idea of...you know, us."

She laughed too. "Oh, I know Hermione does. So do Crystal and Morgana. They nearly killed me this morning."

"I'm surprised Harry didn't try to, honestly," I replied, standing. "I thought he'd destroy me."

Sarah stood as well. "I swear, he, Sirius, and Remus can be so overprotective."

'I don't blame them,' I thought. 'After what you've been through? I want to protect you as well...'

I nodded instead of speaking as we left the Hall.

"So what are you doing today?" asked Sarah after a minute of silence.

"I was just going to study," I told her truthfully.

"What subject?" she questioned.

I sighed heavily. "Potions."

"Oh, I can help," she offered. "I may not like Snape, but I'm good at what he teaches."

"Really?" I asked, slightly incredulous.

"Well, yeah," she replied. "And in return you can help me find a way to breathe underwater."

"Deal," I told her, and we both grinned at each other as we entered the Common Room.
