Two Months Later— February

Dreading the streak of sunlight that managed to peak through the blackout curtains, Carter released a huff of air before turning his head slightly to see the time; 6:25 AM — only five more minutes until he had to leave this comfy bed. Knowing that it was nothing worse than waking up before your alarm, he allow it not to bother him for he could waste the extra time gazing at his sleeping beauty; with her face pressed against his chest and leg draped over his body, slight snores escaped her mouth.

Taking a chance to push away the loc of hair that tickled her nose, Carter eyed her brown skin and memorized every freckle that populated the bridge of her nose and slender neck. Allowing a soft smile to land upon his face thereafter, he found himself in an enchanted trance and began to softly stroke her head to keep the peace, since she never grew fond of having to lose his body heat.

Now realizing that there was only a minute left of cuddle time, he reached for his phone and silenced the alarm before slowly inching himself out of Giselle's tight hold; when his chest was no longer present, she immediately awoke.

"Sorry.." He whispered, but when only ineligible words came about, he knew that she was too sleepy to respond. Happy that she settled back down rather quickly, Carter headed to the bathroom to freshen up and partake in his daily hygiene routine before moving on to the closet.

"Alexa, what's the weather like today?" He said aloud during his walk toward his suit rack.

"Partly sunny skies with a low of 50° and high of 70° in the evening." The echo responded right away.

Fucking California, Carter mumbled aloud. As he browsed through the plethora of dress shirts, the option to pick something cozy—yet breathable, was at the top of his list. Gravitating towards the black button down from Armani Exchange, he laid it down on the ottoman before choosing a matching pair of black trousers. After deciding to use gold jewelry to bring his corporate look together, he took some time to lightly steam his clothes before partaking in an extensive moisturizing routine.

Coming to a sudden halt when he found himself reaching for his everyday scent, Carter pondered on another option to choose due to Giselle's newfound disdain for the woodsy aroma. It was hard to believe that she was no longer a fan of the cologne that drew her towards him, but he took the critique rather well since as of late, nothing she usually loved was agreeing with her body's chemistry.

Settling for Tom Ford's: Black Orchid Parfum, he released a tester spritz in the air before misting the remaining key areas around his body; introducing his nostrils to the warm floral scent with hints of black truffle and plum, he grew a liking to how well it matched his luxurious ambiance. Being sure to reorganize the closet once he was fully dressed, Carter turned down the lights and tiptoed back to his side of the bed in order to retrieve his cell phone and Apple Watch from its charger.
