Izzy's POV
I'm nervous.
I have to act like Dani. Bruce obviously noted the differences between us. He caught up. When he asked her if the girl from the cafe and the girl from the club are the same person, I thought Dani would cave and tell the truth. She didn't.
My baby needs a father and I need a roof over my head. Bruce will serve that purpose if I play this right. I'll see about switching the babies as soon as their born.
A knock on the door made me more anxious. It must be Bruce. Anna told me that he's coming. Anna... she makes me feel awkward. I dint know her that well, only what Dani has shared. If anyone can catch me in my lies it's Anna. I refrain from saying much around her.
I opened the door for Bruce. "Papi... you're here-"
He got into the hotel room.
"When did this happen? At the cabin or the back of the car?"
I have no idea what he's talking about. Is Dani's pregnancy older? I'm also not sure. Mine is ten weeks. It's almost showing. Dani still has a very flat tummy. She's probably behind by a week or two. But when did this happen?
I feigned nausea and I ran to the bathroom. I pretended to throw up and flashed. He followed. "I'm sorry. Mornings are getting difficult."
"It must have happened at the cabin. The doctor said you're ten weeks along. Right?"
"Right."
He offered me his hand and pulled me up. "You look pale. Are you eating?"
"I can barely keep anything down." I let a few tears slip. "This is so hard." I leaned against him. It took a moment before he wrapped his arms around me. "I know you don't want this but please don't let me do it alone."
"I want to be a father." I looked up. He has interesting green eyes. "I just didn't plan on it happening when you're seventeen. Or even for it to happen with you. We broke up, remember?"
"How can I forget? It really hurt when you threw that money at me."
"I'm sorry. I was upset. Dani, we are not getting back together. I will take responsibility for this baby but we are not getting back to together." It really does not matter to me as long as I'm cared for but it matters to Dani. She's hopelessly in love with this man. I have to do what she will do. I covered my face and pretended to cry loudly. I turned away from him. "I'll give you a moment. Pack up. You won't be staying here anymore."
He closed the bathroom door. I composed myself. I washed my plain face. I also have to give up make-up. Bring Dani is emotionally exhausting.
"Where are we going?" I asked as I packed away the things I brought. Anna already bought the baby a gift. I will show it to Bruce later. Even I was moved by the little onesie.
He took the bag from my hand. We made our way out. I checked out and got into the back seat of the town car. The older man who serves him glanced back at me. "Miss Daniella, it's lovely to see you again.
Dani would be say something nice. "It is James, thank you."
We drove to a tall metal gate. It looks like a gated estate. We drove for about a minute before I saw the first two houses, on the left and right. I am trying not to act surprised because Dani was here. She talked about this estate.
The car stopped in front of a house that looks like a mansion out of Lake Tahoe. Concrete, steel and wood accents. It's bold. My eyes moved around. This neighborhood is perfect. I almost smiled but kept it together. We followed the old man to the red door. He opened it. I set foot into the beautiful house. I can't believe he gave Dani a key to a mansion and she was still holding on to that ugly little house we were living in.
