Daniella's POV
Bruce isn't home.

He has been gone for hours and I am bored out of my mind especially because I am being attended to hand and foot. I am not allowed to even take a dirty cup to the sink. Everything is brought to me and cleared when not needed. All I need now is a little golden bell to ring whenever I want something on a silver platter and it will be brought to me.

I have wandered  into his office. It is à clean well organized space.  Not a single thing is out of place. I sat in front of his monitor and switched it on. The screen saver is a picture of us at the beach. I haven't paid that much attention before but Bruce has natural fang-like canines. He is like a vamp. I giggled when I imagined him biting my neck.

So far I have managed to escape his arms when things get heated. But I can tell he is getting impatient. Anna's ultimatum keeps playing at the back of my mind. Two weeks have narrowed down to nine days. I have two more days before my week in the Hamptons ends.

My mother hasn't even looked for me. Izzy is also awfully quiet. It seems like I exist on my own. I only have Bruce and now my secret will deter him from being with me. Either way I intend to beat Anna to it. I also intend to make the next two days memorable if it means we won't be together anymore.

I noticed one of the drawers on the left side of his desk is slightly open. I closed it but then curiosity got the best part of me and I opened it reaching for a box. I placed it on the glass table and glanced at the door. James isn't around, he left with Bruce. Popping the clasp, I saw a diamond engagement ring, pictures of my sister and Bruce together. Tears stung my eyes when I saw my sister. I ran my fingers over her picture wishing she was here to point me in the right direction.

Will she approve of my relationship be with Bruce?

"What should I do Dani?" I asked. "What should I do?"

When I heard Billy and Jimny barking and scratching Bruce's door, I knew someone is coming. I put the box back and wiped my tears. I then sat still and waited.

Bruce came in and of course the dogs didn't spare him from their excitement. I watched him playing with them briefly before he looked at me.

"Hey sweetheart. Are you okay?"

"Yeah... actually no." I opened the drawer and set the box on the table.

I really need to hear how he felt about Dani. If my intuition is correct, I intend to tell Izzy to back off. He grew serious and put the dogs out. "Why are you going through my things?"

"The drawer was open. I'm sorry but who is she?"

He took his time running his hand through his overgrown dark curly hair.

"Her name was Danica."

"Was?"

"She died." He narrowed his eyes and took the box looking through the contents. "I haven't opened this in years."

"How did she die?"

"Why are you asking about her?"

I stood up and gestured him to sit. I sat on his lap looking into the box with him. "Because I'm your girlfriend and I want to know that you're into me and not her."

He sighed, setting the box on the table and bringing me to straddle him. "When you first told me your name is Dani, I freaked out. I felt like life was playing a nasty joke on me. The girl I suddenly fancied has the same name with the dead woman I love... loved. That's why I stayed away for a while."

"Why try it with me?"

I hope it isn't Izzy's doing. The kissing at the club could have moved him.

"I couldn't stop thinking about our first conversation at the café. The sincerity that oozed out of you. Dani, girls like you are hard to come by."
