Chapter 32: His Mother My Mother

Daniella's POV
The headmaster's office was always the last place anyone wanted to be. Courtney's office feels like the headmaster's office. It's freezing with consequence.

She's staring at me and barely saying anything.

Day one of work, I put Hayden in a hospital. It was not that bad but she is really milking the situation. She has everyone in the IT department feeling sorry for her.

"According to Hayden, you attacked her out of jealousy for her feelings for Bruce."

"That's not why Courtney. She knew about Izzy and she didn't tell Bruce. If she did, I would still be pregnant."

"I'm not going to indulge you in the blame game. However, you should know that she is pressing charges for assault. A lot of employees saw you beating her up. Dani she baited you and you fell right into her trap."

"To be honest, it felt good and I'm not sorry."

She smiled. "To be honest I wanted to do that but the stakes would be so much higher if the CEO beats someone up. But it's your lucky day because I was assigned protective duty over you. Don't do this again!"

"I won't."

"I also booked you a session with a therapist."

"What? Why?"

"Because you have a lot of rage."

"Will you go with me?"

"No." She laughed at me. "My therapy is not telling a stranger my problems."

"What is your therapy?"

"Kickboxing."

"That sounds... fun."

"Every Wednesday. Would you like to join me tomorrow?"

"Yes."

I'll take any source if distraction. I miss Bruce so much!

"Im meeting my best friend for dinner. Would you like to come? It beats going home to nothing."

"Actually, I was hoping to go home to my mom tonight. We left things on a bad note. I would like to fix that."

"That's all right. You totally should. I used to have a rocky relationship with my mother but when I got pregnant, we started to get along. What about your father Dani?"

We walked out of the office together.

"Zero relationship." I sighed. "Nowhere to start. I feel so alone sometimes. I wish I could go with Bruce. I would be sos still he wouldn't even know I'm there."

"You know the strangest thing is that Chris deployed the very next day after we married. He left early in the morning just like Bruce did. I got pregnant soon after that. My little cherry, my Bruce was something I denied even when he was showing. When I watched him say goodbye to you, I remembered I went through the same thing. He will come back and you two will have many years together. You won't be alone for too long."

She kissed my forehead, holding my cheek in her hand.

"Driver and bodyguards. I know." I pointed to the black SUV waiting for me.

"Stay safe."

We got into our separate cars and went our separate ways. I don't know how my mother will react when she sees me but we have much to talk about. I know that I have a lot to say to her. The day I left was a mess. I was chasing after Bruce. She was angry about the pregnancies. I ended up getting abducted that day.

"Are you sure this is the right neighborhood Miss Daniella?" The driver asked me.

"Yes. This is where I come from. Pull up here."
