**MIKES POV**
I can feel my muscles aching. My eyes flutter open slowly. I turn my gaze to find myself lying in my basement, with Will's drawings scattered around me.

I sit up, muscles tender from being curled up in an uncomfortable position on the couch. I look over at my calendar on the wall next to me. There's a bright red circle on todays date that says " Byers visiting".

I stare blankly at the calendar until I realize.. it was a dream. Shit. It wasn't real. I look around to see if anything is real, already knowing the answer. I run my fingers through my hair and let out a huff of air, one of.. anger.

It was a dream? It seemed.. real. It felt real. I must've fallen asleep at some point but- it doesn't make sense.

I feel my eyes well up with tears as I grind my teeth together in frustration. The Byers aren't here. I look down at my watch. How long have I been out? 14 hours. Great. I roll my eyes before going into my room.

I sit at my desk and open a drawer full with letters. To Will. Letters that I never sent. Because they're not good enough. I shake my head, trying to shake the thoughts away. I lay down, wanting to rest up for later.

I'll need it.

  ****TIME SKIP****

My eyes flutter open to the sound of footsteps hurriedly shuffling up the stairs. My door swings open a few seconds later to reveal my mom rolling her eyes and saying " Micheal! Get up! The Byers will be here any minute!"

   Shit.

I fling myself off my bed towards my dresser. I take a quick shower and throw on the nearest items of clothing. Clothing is the last thing I should worry about.

I find my mind lost in thoughts. Will it be awkward between me and El? Has Will gotten taller than me? How different do they act?

My thoughts are immediately interrupted by the sound of a car pulling into the driveway. My heart begins to race. I slow my breathing and try to stay calm. It will only be awkward if you make it that way.

My mom walks out first to greet Joyce. Her and Mrs. Byers have gotten really close since they moved, so my mom insisted they stay here instead of a hotel. " Hotels in Hawkins aren't great anyway," is what she said. Them staying in a hotel could've saved me from the awkwardness.

I step through the doorway and look out near the driveway. I see someone walk towards me slowly and stop. My breathe suddenly catches in my throat.

Will Byers is standing in my driveway.

A/N: MWAHUAHHAUHAUHAHA did you really think i would let that happen so early? This story is def going to be slow-burn. Ik some of you wont like this plot twist, and thats okay. BUT im asking you to PLEASE stick with me. I promise the ending I have for it will make this worth it. The next few chapters will be emphasizing on Mike and Wills relationship, more than Mike and El's. BUT never fear, we are FINALLY getting into the juicy drama. Thank you so much for sticking around! See you soon!
