“Excuse me, can you move your backpack if you don’t mind?” Tae asked, flashing the sweetest, most angelic smile. The girl blinked, nodded, and moved her stuff, but Tae wasn’t even paying attention anymore. He was knee-deep in a Colleen Hoover book for his literature assignment. Just as he was starting to pity the characters (and himself for having to write the review), a commotion broke his focus.
Tae squinted. “Who’s causing drama in my library?” He muttered, peering over the book.
It was Jeon Jeongguk. And, oh boy, there was Daniel, looking as obnoxious as ever, waving his ego like a banner.
“What is that motherducker doing here?” Tae hissed under his breath.
Before the librarian could go full Voldemort, Jeongguk darted toward the literature section. Tae, always one to embrace his inner detective, grabbed his bag and followed stealthily, pretending to browse nearby shelves.
“Need help?” Tae asked, breaking the silence.
Jeongguk barely spared him a glance. “No, thanks.”
Tae’s eyes twitched. “What are you looking for?”
“A book.”
Oh, the nerve! Tae rolled his eyes, determined not to let Jeongguk win.
Then, out of nowhere, an impossibly sunny figure appeared, holding up a children’s book like it was the solution to world peace.
“Jungkookie! Look what I found!”
Tae froze. The voice? The smile? The sparkle? This guy could probably sell toothpaste with that grin.
Jeongguk glanced at the book and sighed, “Hyung, you’ve read that a thousand times already.”
“But I’m hoping the ending changes!”
Tae was now third-wheeling a bromance he didn’t sign up for. Jeongguk’s rare smile caught him off guard, though. It was soft, sincere… and definitely not directed at him. Was this… jealousy? Yes, yes, it was. Tae was jealous of a guy holding The Little Mermaid.
“Hyung, it already has a good ending,” Jeongguk said, amused.
“Good?!” Hoseok gasped dramatically. “The prince doesn’t even fall for her!”
“Maybe she was destined to suffer.”
“Destiny can’t be that cruel.”
“Tell that to my assignments,” Jeongguk muttered.
Tae cleared his throat, interrupting the Disney debate. “I finished It Starts with Us. You can have it.” He handed over the book like a mic drop and turned to leave.
“Hey, wait!” Jeongguk called, looking bashful. “Thanks... and for that day, too.”
Hoseok’s eyes lit up. “OH MY GOD. You’re the guy who saved him?! Jungkookie talks about you all the time!”
Tae blinked. “Wait, he does?”
“Yes! He won’t admit it, but he’s obsessed—”
“HYUNG!” Jeongguk glared daggers at Hoseok, who grinned unapologetically.

The Café Chronicles
“Let’s grab a coffee,” Hoseok announced, slinging an arm around Tae like they were old pals. Jeongguk followed, muttering something about regretting all his life choices.
The moment they sat down, Hoseok went full FBI mode. “So, Tae, where do you live?”
“With my friend Jimin, just down the street.”
“Oh, so you’re not from Seoul?”
“No, I’m from Daegu.” Tae smiled politely, but Hoseok’s next question made him freeze.
“What do your parents do?”
Jeongguk’s sixth sense for awkwardness kicked in. “Hyung, maybe stop interrogating him like he’s applying for a visa.”
“Fine, fine!” Hoseok raised his hands in surrender, flashing an apologetic grin. The table fell into silence until Tae finally stood up.
“Well, it’s getting late,” he said, glancing at Jeongguk.
“See you around,” Jeongguk mumbled, trying not to meet Tae’s eyes.
As Tae walked out, he turned to steal one last look at Jeongguk, adjusting his glasses like a scene straight out of a K-drama. Hoseok waited exactly three seconds before squealing.
“Oh. My. GOD. He’s so in love with you!”
“Hyung, don’t start—”
“His eyes never left you! Did you see that little smile? Aww, my baby Jungkookie is finally someone’s muse!”
Jeongguk groaned. “Hyung, I swear—”
“And he’s so handsome!”
“He’s a nerd.”
“That TikTok audio—‘It’s not that bad, it just needs a little shaping... TO THE SALON!’ That’s him!”
“Hyung.”
“You’re just mad because I turned you into a zebra.”
Jeongguk threw his head back in exasperation. “Why did I ever agree to let you cut my hair?”
“Because your monochrome-loving ass needed saving,” Hoseok snorted.
They were interrupted by a waiter who placed a plate of cookies on the table. “It’s our owner’s birthday today, so enjoy these on the house!”
“Thank you! And happy birthday to your boss!” Jeongguk said with his trademark politeness.
As the waiter left, Hoseok smirked. “The cookies are delicious. And so is the waiter.”
“HYUNG!”
“I’m telling you, I’m in love. True love!”
Jeongguk dragged Hoseok out of the café, muttering, “I am done with you.”
“Sure, but you’ll never be done with love~!” Hoseok sang, winking at a flustered Jeongguk.
