Donnie's POV

I ran as fast as I could to find a manhole close to (y/n)'s apartment. I brought a backpack that contained motion sensors, security cameras, microphones, and the setup for hanging out with (y/n). Since it was just me, I started talking to myself as I ran.

"I really don't think the apartment will be clear, but hopefully if there are any Krang still inside I can sneak around them and plant my sensors and cameras. What rooftop should I go to? Probably one that is high enough that people won't look down from their building and see us. Now that I think about it most of the buildings here aren't crazy tall, that's helpful in case she's scared of heights. Will she like what I packed? What movie did she choose? I hope it has some sort of romance just cause, well, yeah. If she enjoys her time tonight, should I take her on like, an official date? Wow, I'm seriously overthinking this, as usual."

I skidded to a halt and reached up to move the manhole cover aside. Once I knew the coast was clear, I crawled out, re-covered the manhole, and jumped into the shadows. There were a decent amount of cars, but not a lot of people walking around. I jumped up onto the fire escape and found (y/n)'s bedroom window. It was still open from the night before, so I easily pulled it open. Before stepping in, I leaned over the windowsill to check if I could hear any Krang inside. Confirming my earlier thoughts, I heard those damn robots, but they weren't near (y/n)'s room. I stepped inside and grabbed a camera and microphone and set both on the desk in the corner of the room facing the door. Then carefully moved around the rest of the house placing cameras, sensors, and microphones in every room.

Relieved, I made it back to her bedroom without being noticed by the Krang. As easily as I came in, I went back out and climbed up the fire escape to the roof. I scouted out the perfect building that was taller than the rest and not too far away, but it was perfect. Quickly jumping from building to building, I kept checking how long I'm taking. It's only been about 5 minutes, so I still had a little bit of time.

Once I reached the building, it was relieving to see that there wasn't really anything up there, so it was a perfect setup. I dropped my backpack down and started getting everything out. Once I was content with how everything looked and was set up, I started heading back to the sewers.

Your POV

It had been 10 minutes since Donnie left and worry started to build that something went wrong. He said that he'd be back quickly, but just checking out the apartment shouldn't take this long. Just as your worry started to grow, Donnie appeared beside you.

"Ready to go?" he asked with a wide smile.

"Um, yeah!" you replied. The excitement burst out of you and he started smiling even wider.

"Alright then let's go!" he beamed as picked you up and started running out of the lair.

"Donnie why are you carrying me?" you laughed.

"I'm gonna be honest I don't know, but I guess it's faster if I do this and run than if you had to walk," he replied with a smirk.

You couldn't help but laugh as he ran through the sewers before he stopped at a manhole. As he pushed the heavy cover away with ease, you could feel his muscles against you. After checking to see if the coast is clear, he turned you to the ladder making it more accessible. "Ladies first," he smiled.

So chivalry isn't dead. "Why thank you, kind sir," you replied as you reached for the ladder. As soon as your head breached the surface, you took a deep breath. It wasn't the cleanest air since it was in a big city, but it was better than the sewers. Once you were completely up, Donnie followed you and re-covered the manhole.

"I found a rooftop about two blocks away from here," he notified you as he held his arms back out. You jumped into his arms and put your arms around his neck and grabbed the strap on his shell that held his staff. Before you knew it, the two of you were running across the rooftops. Donnie jumped from building to building so easily considering your extra weight. He stopped next to the tallest building within a couple of blocks radius. "Close your eyes (y/n). I have a surprise for you," he said with a hint of nervousness in his voice.

You turn around and what you see immediately makes you want to melt with happiness.
