Lukas looked all over the campus, eventually finding Tanigo's office. He knocked on the door, though softly.
Motoaki: "You may enter."
When he heard that he immediately opened the door to see Tanigo sorting out some files that is on top of his office desk. Tanigo immediately noticed who it was, stopping for a moment.
Motoaki: "Ah Young Misaki, hang on a moment."
Lukas just nods and Tanigo quickly finishes his task in a bit of a hasty manner, packing all the files into their respective drawers. While he was busy doing that, Lukas closed the door behind himself and goes to his desk, taking a seat and having a look at the office environment around himself. Lukas did note that Tanigo seems to always be busy due to how untidy the room around them is, unless he is too lazy to clean up everything.
Motoaki: "Right, straight to business."
Tanigo said this as he put the last file away.
Motoaki: "I'm glad you came by after your first class and first day. So how did it go?"
Lukas: "It w-was actually alright... It was n-nerve wracking due to me introducing m-myself but the moment I was d-done... I was able to focus in class a bit b-better.."
Motoaki: "I see, glad to hear it. I understand that things may seem weird due to you being an ordinary human in a school that is filled with individuals that could possibly snap you like a twig."
Lukas just then realized and remembered what he meant by that, since it felt like an ordinary school day to him. He gulped a bit in fear of what is to happen next.
Motoaki: "However the truth is that I did pull some strings to get you in, though under the guise of me recommending you into this school."
Lukas: "W-What..?"
Motoaki: "To the teachers and the rest of the cofounders, you are just a student recommended in by me. The rest of the students don't even know that, not even Zai. I have to make things clear with you so you can grasp the situation at hand and not blurt out things that could get us both in trouble you hear?"
Lukas: "Y-Yes mister Tanigo..."
Lukas felt a little conflicted on this information being told to him on the spot. But he then decided to tell himself mentally that things are going to get better, even if it seems bad, he had to see the bright side in all of this. The upside is that he could get away from his family and start over fresh. This slightly put a small smile on his face, making him able to pay attention to what Tanigo had to say.
Motoaki: "I read through your past records that your old school had and what your parents had. You were very diligent when it came to your work, so it is advisable for you to apply that to this school as much as you can for what will be happening in the middle of your first year here."
Lukas: "That being...?"
Motoaki: "For all the years, we constantly hold a Mid-Year Exam to ensure that the students within this fine academy have what it takes to progress further down the line. For the third years, it is to improve what they have for their finals. For the second years, it is seen as a bad thing all around and they get given a light punishment while the ones who move on succeeding will get to do some unique things that you could experience. But for the first years, if you fail, you get kicked out."
The moment he heard the last part, he started sweating lightly, realizing the jeopardy he ended up in. If he fails the upcoming Mid-Year Exam, he gets kicked out.
Motoaki: "I can tell this is a lot to take in, but luckily these teachers can help you through the course of the first half of the year to help you pass. Every year it is different to allow people not to cheat in any way. But from what I recall from the beginning of the planning steps with the other two cofounders, we plan to have it be a physical type of exam. So you won't be sitting around like your usual human schools, so there is not much I can do on that front for you Young Misaki."
This made Lukas dreadful, knowing that he is screwed if he doesn't figure out a way to pass the Mid-Year Exam, already feeling the stress that is about to be laid upon him.
Lukas: "T-Then what do I d-do..?"
Motoaki: "You don't need to worry, I can still pull some strings, unless you want to try and do this on your own terms. Besides, Zai will be able to assist you in your struggles when you need it. I know of your history, I did inform Zai about it."
Lukas: "Of which p-parts...?"
Lukas was growing more nervous by the second, realizing that his past will come back to haunt him again. All he wanted to do from coming to this island, even though he wasn't excited about this, he wanted to have a fresh start. Starting over would do him wonders, but his past kept on crawling its way back into his life like a cockroach that roamed into your vision on a daily basis. He did imagine that kind of thought but he was always grossed out by it.
Motoaki: "Mostly of your educational background. I didn't mention how you got kicked out, how you got banned from other schools or how your family has been treating you. I promise you Young Misaki, your future here will be brighter than being amongst the humans who only used you for self gains."
Lukas looked down in pain, mostly sadness welling up inside. He knew back then before that "incident" that he was being used, but he didn't want to disappoint his own family or friends he built up during that time, but due to it, he lost everything in one foul swoop. Harsh realities came crashing on in, ruining him as a person, ruining his future of being a better human being. His family hated him, seeing him as nothing but a stain to their reputation since they were so popular. Choosing to no longer give him the light of day and choose the younger sister over him.
Motoaki: "It is painful that much I know of, but sometimes the best thing that we both as humans can do is move on from it. Try to become something better. Don't let it consume you and you can achieve great things, that much I promise you."
Lukas looked up at Tanigo, tears welling up from his eyes.
Lukas: "Y-You mean i-it..?"
Motoaki: "Trust me, I had my own experiences and I had to get over them. But please clear those tears away. It makes me feel bad."
Lukas then realizes what Tanigo meant and immediately wiped away his tears, keeping a comforting real smile for once in forever.
Lukas: "I understand... Is that all I was called for mister Tanigo..?"
Motoaki: "Well yes. There will be more that we need to talk about during the following months leading up to the Mid-Year Exam. So get some rest tonight and sleep on it, you'll feel better in the morning since you got a lot of busy days ahead of you, Young Misaki."
Lukas got up, bowing respectfully, not needing to say another word to him. He immediately left the office, closing the door behind himself and left the school grounds to try and find his way back to Zai's place.
He recalled from his earlier memories from the morning that Zai showed him the quickest way back to the academy and even to Zai's place. So he followed what was instructed and eventually made it back to Zai's home, making him sigh in relief that he made it back safe and sound. He did see that it was sunset now, making him know that Zai must have already made food. So he head on inside to find the cold food that awaited him and ate away after warming it in the microwave. This was but a simple first day for Lukas, but he knew that this was going to get more difficult, and the dread that flew through his body about the information he learnt about the Mid-Year Exam makes him realize that he cannot mess up once... or else...
