Chapter 32 - The First Night of the Mid-Year Exams

The group managed to cover some ground, however it would seem that luck wouldn't be in their favour as it was getting dark and the temperatures were starting to get colder and colder, which was really bad for them. They were close to a hill which was a good thing as Lukas ended up suggesting that they simply find a cave entrance to rest as they managed to find one. They were all shivering to a degree, however Saruei was the most cold out of everyone as she didn't have any form of warmth in her attire.

Her teeth were chattering as she wasn't able to walk that well.

Lukas: "You okay Saruei..?"

Saruei: "Ah... No s-shit.."

Saruei then suddenly felt like her legs gave in as she was falling, but Shoto reacted in time as he grabbed her and set her down next to wall.

Shoto: "She's freezing."

Wilson: "That ain't good."

Lukas: "Shouldn't we make a campfire..?"

Shoto: "Yes but, the snow is starting to pick up and we don't have any wood."

Wilson: "Wouldn't that mean we have to go out there and get some?"

Lukas then realized that the two wouldn't want to take the risk, so he decided to head out.

Wilson: "Hey where're you going?"

Lukas: "To get us some fire wood..."

Shoto: "In this freezing cold? I don't think so."

Lukas: "B-But wouldn't it get worse if we don't start a fire...?"

Shoto looked to Saruei as she was struggling to keep her eyes open, making him sigh in an aggravated manner.

Shoto: "Fine, but I'm going with you. Wilson, you stay here and make sure she stays awake."

Wilson: "Uh... Sure."

Shoto: "Let's get going."

Lukas simply nodded as the two then left the cave as they began to search in the dead of night. Understandably Lukas was having trouble seeing in the dark as he couldn't see much at all, which made him have to create a flame in his right hand so that he could see where he was going. Though when he looked at Shoto, he seemed to know what he was doing, not really needing a light source at all.

Lukas *Thoughts*: "Shoto seems to know what he's doing.."

Veladora: "Demon Hunters tend to learn their environments quickly. It is only natural for him if he was able to progress this far. Though the more I think about it, he does look kinda cute~"

Lukas felt a little weirded out that Veladora is being rather....

Lukas *Thoughts*: "Are you seriously trying to implant something in my head!?"

Veladora: "What~? No~ Why would I do that~?"

Lukas *Thoughts*: "You literally called someone cute when you are possibly.... I don't know, centuries old!?"

Veladora: "Come on~ I can at least remember the youth fling when I feel like it ya know~?"

Lukas shook the thoughts out of his head as he was finding this a little too uncomfortable, though Shoto then came to a halt.

Shoto: "These twigs and leaves will have to do. These should be enough to last the night. Can your flames burn more slower to provide longer sources of heat?"
