Chapter 33 - The Reaper Strikes

As it was the middle of the second day of the Mid-Year Exams, Lukas, Wilson, Saruei and Shoto were trekking the forest as it wasn't snowing at the moment, which made things get easier for them, while on the way, Saruei figured she would return the favour as Lukas was constantly walking without his jacket. 

She could notice that Lukas was constantly using heat from his hands, which is most likely from the Fire Magic that he was using to warm himself up, though it wasn't really doing too much. She then tossed the jacket to Lukas as he caught it.

Saruei: "You can have that back. Thanks for allowing me to use it Lukas."

Lukas: "S-Sure... No problem.."

Lukas sighed as he was glad to actually have proper warmth again. He immediately put the jacket on, feeling the warmth made him smile with comfort for a moment, which was incredibly rare for Saruei to see as other times when Lukas did smile when she talked to her, it mostly seemed forced.

Wilson: "Hey Shoto, how far do you think our next stop might be?"

Shoto: "How should I know? We are trying to get close to the centre of this island in the first place. So from what I can gather from these tracks, I believe we are getting closer to a lake if I were to guess right now."

Wilson: "A lake? Hell yeah!"

Saruei: "I doubt you would get some fresh water right now. This environment would prevent that from happening."

Wilson: "I mean, we could melt the ice and get some fresh water thanks to our Omni Magician friend over here~"

Lukas: "Are you trying to use me right now..?"

Lukas was honestly very suspicious about that, but Wilson simply walked backwards as he turned to face Lukas, only for him to wave his hands in a comedic fashion.

Wilson: "You know I don't mean it like that! I ain't going to use you buddy!"

Lukas: "I think I get it now... There's no need to be so comedic about it..."

Shoto: "He's just like this at times because he wants to be. So don't mind him Misaki."

The four were enjoying each others' company as Lukas for once felt comfortable around them, even though he didn't know them for as long as like Zai or Ina. Lukas felt like his troubles will simply go away as he can possibly still make it through the Academy after all, though suddenly he felt a sudden chill down his spine, making him stop in his tracks as Saruei stopped as well.

Saruei: "Lukas? You okay?"

The other two heard this as they turned to look at Lukas as well. Yet Shoto noticed immediately that Lukas was sweating a little, his face getting a little pale. Lukas' eyes were widened as he felt an ominous presence, yet it was very familiar to him.

Veladora: "That presence... It speaks of death... Yet I could swear that I can recognize it... But why..?"

Lukas was getting an idea immediately as he still couldn't move. Shoto then suddenly got a smell of something nearby, which he could tell was not normal. Yet the smell was moving towards them at a dangerous pace, heading towards....

Shoto: "Look out!"

Shoto immediately ran up to Lukas, pushing him out of the way as a scythe flew straight past them, barely missing them as it sliced down a tree. Both Lukas and Shoto got back up to their feet, confused on what just happened. Though the truth would be revealed to them immediately as the figure suddenly appeared where the scythe had landed. The figure's pinkish-red eyes were glowing an ominous bright red as her figure intimidated everyone. Yet Lukas recognized her immediately.
