Chapter 13 - The Darkness Within

Lukas opened his eyes to see himself within a dark void. He couldn't really see anything else around him, besides when he walked. When he walked, the ground created ripples like as if he was walking on water, even the sound could be a big giveaway. He was confused on what had happened, because all he could remember was one moment he freaked out from seeing his own blood, then the next he saw his darker half. But afterwards, it was blank for him, he couldn't remember anything else.

He held his head in pain, trying to remember what happened, but it wouldn't come to him. 

???: "It appears you have tapped into your darkness yet again.."

His eyes widened, recognizing the voice as he turned around to see the very figure that had been haunting his mind ever since the "incident". His red eyes pierced straight through him, like as if he was the hunter and Lukas was the prey. 

Lukas: "Y-You..."

???: "There is no need to be afraid boy. I knew you were special the moment I laid my eyes upon you that day.."

Lukas: "W-What are you t-talking about..?"

The figure's smile grew wider, forming into a devilish smirk, showing his teeth to be quite sharp. 

???: "You're an Omni Magician. The first in the many years of my existence. They are rare to encounter and yet... I didn't expect you, a human to be one. But that darkness within you is even more intriguing. You and I are connected due to it, which was why I spared you that day."

Lukas: "W-What do you mean..?"

???: "You will only know when me meet yet again in the real world, Lukas Misaki."

The figure then started to break into a maniacal laughter, making chills run down Lukas's spine, forcing him to wake up sweating. He was breathing heavily when he looked at his surroundings, finding himself in the Nurse's office, early in the morning judging by the sunrise through the window. He didn't see anyone else in the room, which made him calm down so he could catch his breaths. 

He sat up, getting off of the bed so he could relax himself and get a feel of his body. He stretched a little, feeling that his body was fine, which made him sigh in relief, but his head was still in pain, which he couldn't properly ignore. He then heard the door open, which he turned to look at who entered. It was Yamino-Sensei, Akuma-Sensei and Choco-Sensei.

Choco: "Oh I see you're awake now Misaki."

Lukas didn't really know how to reply back, but when he accidentally looked at her beautiful figure, he looked away in embarrassment so he could recollect his thoughts. 

Vox: "You don't need to be shy Young Misaki."

Lukas: "I-I'm not Akuma Sensei.."

Shu: "Listen Young Misaki, it was perfect timing that you are awake since we can discuss what had happened to you."

Lukas: "W-What happened exactly...?"

Vox: "You see, you went rampant but luckily Young Sonzai managed to snap you out of it by knocking you out cold. This unfortunately made us have to cancel that lesson, so we are only going to hold it next month again, but under different regulations based on a certain input we won't share until you fully recover."

Lukas: "I fully r-recover..?"

Shu: "You see, we are giving you a month off so you can recover since we believe that you need to relax your mental self for the time being. We aren't sure on exactly what that was that made you like that, but a month break will help you clear your mind."

Lukas looks down, thinking about it for a moment, but he then nods in response to their demands. 

Lukas: "I can do that Sensei.. But.. What about my school work?"

Vox: "That won't be an issue Young Misaki. Young Sonzai will be taking care of that, bringing the work you need to do at home and he will hand it in to me so I can give it in. It is a simple solution after all."

Lukas understood this, but as he was about to walk, he felt his body was about to collapse on him. He was falling to the ground but Yamino-Sensei caught him in time.

Shu: "Woah there.. You need time to recover, so for the time being I think you need some support to carry your weight around a bit since Young Sonzai had to do so much to get you down for the count. Now come on, let me get you two crutches. Choco, do you know where the crutches are?"

She then nods her head and brings the crutches to them immediately, making him use it with ease. Lukas thanked the teachers and decided that he wanted to be alone so he could get used to the crutches along the way himself. As he went through the halls, he did notice some of the students from other classes looking at him. He did feel uncomfortable about it, but his mind didn't care about that mainly because his mind was trying to understand what that red-eyed man was on about in his dream.

He managed to reach the entrance to the Academy, but he was about to trip when he accidentally put the crutches on the wrong spots, making him slip. But someone caught him midway, making Lukas blink a few times.

Doppio: "You good Misaki?"

He turned to look at Dropscythe who helped him back to his feet. 

Lukas: "D-Dropscythe.. Look what h-happened before I.."

Doppio: "There is no need Misaki. I was told that you would be heading home when you got up, so do you mind me getting you back home?"

Lukas was honestly surprised by this sudden change. He didn't expect this since Dropscythe was mostly cruel towards him, so the sudden change was honestly making him suspicious of him almost immediately.

Lukas: "You sure..? What a-about classes?"

Doppio: "Whatever. The teachers don't need to wait for me anyways, now come on."

Dropscythe gestured for Lukas to follow and so he did. So they spent the next couple of minutes taking shortcuts and having light conversations along the way. Dropscythe didn't want to pry into his past since it would be better to get him to trust him first for that to work anyways. They eventually reached the house, making them both stop in front of the house.

Lukas: "This is it.."

Dropscythe: "Well then, I shall head back now. Don't want to miss every single class today."

Lukas: "I understand.. Take c-care.."

Dropscythe: "You too."

Dropscythe then just walks off, heading back to the Academy while Lukas walked on to the front door of the house. He was getting used to the crutches for now, but it still felt like his body wanted to collapse to the floor. He tried to open the door, finding it to be locked.

Lukas: "Oh come on... Not now..."

He then began knocking on the door, hoping that Zai would at least answer. But it was too quiet for a while. He then began banging on the door.

Lukas: "Zai! You there!?"

There was still no response, which made him slide down the door, with his back against it until he sat on the porch. Lukas sighed, figuring that he might be really in a deep sleep or he was busy with something else entirely. He knew that he doesn't have a phone, nor does he have any form of spare keys so he had no choice but to wait until Zai could get back home, which means waiting the whole day, which he wasn't excited about. 

After about a hour or two of waiting, he couldn't take it now. So he instead decided to head to the mall by himself, figuring that he needed something to do. He did have some money in his pocket so it would be great to pass the time until the Academy would allow the students to be out. He explored the mall, seeing mostly clothing shops. He did like some of the female fashion looks, even strangely imagining some of the students in his class wearing them, but he just shook it off, finding it weird that he would even imagine that in the first place. But he snapped back to reality when he saw something that made him a bit happy to see. An arcade.

With a smile on his face and the little bit of money in his pocket, he decided to head on inside, hoping to pass the time...
