Asher took out a gun from his left drawer which was incredibly suspicious because who the hell keeps a gun in their house? Jonathan on the other hand, Had to gun just hanging around in his pants.
"Stay here." Asher warned, looking dead serious as he and his father rushed out to see what was happening.
"Who the hell are these people?" I heard a familiar voice yelled, "They are wearing fucking masks. What are we, in batman?"
"Are these swords—" Bash yelled, "What the fuck are we dealing with here, boss?"
"Where is the princess?" A familiar voice questioned. My eyes widened as i instantly recognised whose voice it belonged to. My father's best friend, Jason.
"Princess?" Asher sounded confused, "Did you try looking at Disneyland?" More gunshots followed. "Lock them up." His voiced boomed from downstairs. "They will be questioned later."
A thousand of thoughts was running in my head But i did not want to deal with any of this right now. They have my family locked away and even if i put this life behind me, they are still my family. I grew up with them and i will free them. I was soon interrupted from my thoughts when the office's door bursted open revealing Asher, Jonathan, Theo and Bash. They were all covered in sweat but none were injured which was a relief.
Asher ran his hand through his hair repeatedly since him and the boys came in the room. "What the fuck was that?"
Bash literally threw himself on the nearest couch in front of him before shrugging, "We just fought dudes with swords, man." He patted the empty seat next to him, signalling Theo to sit down which he did. "They were looking for a princess. Do you think they were high or something?"
Jonathan let out a sharp laugh, "I don't think so. They were well trained, if you didn't notice."
They are well trained indeed which makes me begin to question how on earth Asher, Jonathan, Theo and Bash managed to take down and captured well trained assassins.
"Who were they?" I questioned, earning all of their attentions. "Are you guys hurt? How did you even 'Lock them up' and why do you guys have guns?"
Their eyes widened as if they had forgotten for a moment that i was still present in the room.
"Katherine." Jonathan chuckled, "I forgot you are still here." He then looked at his son, "I have to go back home. Your mother needs me for reasons which cannot be discussed, if you know what i mean."
Asher rolled his eyes at his father's statement, "I don't wish to be informed about your activities, dad."
"I know." Jonathan grinned, "That's why it's more fun to tell you about them. Anyways, i'll take your leave now." He looked at me before giving me an apologetic smile, "Im sorry for kidnapping you, it was indeed extreme."
"It's fine, really." I smiled at him before telling him goodbye as he walked out the office, leaving me alone with those boys.
"I believe i asked some questions earlier." I broke the silence in the room. "Why do you guys carry guns around?"
Instead of replying, Asher walked to Bash, grabbed him by his collar and threw him on the ground. Bash was annoyed by this 'Friendly' gesture of his but he didn't question it. I assumed Asher often did this to him. Theo spoke but it sounded more like a question. "We work for the FBI?"
He immediately received the smack on his head from Asher. "No, we don't. Katherine already saw things and heard things even- You know what happens to people who are in the wrong place at the wrong time." He looked at both his friends whose eyes were wide open, "We kill them."
"Kill me?" I snorted, "What do you mean 'Kill me'?" Looking at Asher carefully, trying to keep a serious face on, my hands reached my dagger in my hair- Pretending i was just scratch my head.
"Who are you people?""We are in the mafia, love." Asher stated with a serious look, "You're standing in the house of the American Don." He looked at me up and down, "Few have stood where you currently stand. The others before you were either dead on the ground or on their knees begging to be spared."
I'd be lying if i said this didn't give me chills. He spoke with such seriousness, a cold tone, like he was speaking to someone he never met before. His playful side was gone, he was no longer being funny or making jokes. Even Bash and Theo stood straight as he spoke, their playful side gone as well. They both looked serious, standing with their arms crossed. Asher's tone reeked of power and by that only, i figured he is the one who commands around here. He is the boss. I have heard of the American mafia but i never thought they were actually real let alone situated in New York. What was the point of leaving one life where you had to spill blood everyday only to be stuck in another?
"I'd like to go home." I stated, freigning fear when in reality, i was really pissed at this whole situation i have found myself in. As if the fact that my parents have had me under surveillance since god knows when wasn't enough.
"We can't let you go home." Asher spoke, earning of all my attention. "You have to stay here for a couple of days in order for us to be sure that what you have just been told won't be repeated."
"Excuse me?" I hissed, looking at both Bash and Theo who just nodded in agreement at what Asher said. "This is stupid. I didn't ask to be here."
"I know, Katherine." He sighed, "But it's either this or death." At least, he's giving me a choice. If this was my father? Straight to god you go.
“So, i’ll have to stay here for a few days?” I questioned, looking at the boys who just nodded while Asher spoke, “You’ll just be a guest here. Must your parents or any relatives know about your whereabouts?”
“Only Sara.” I answered, “I could text her once i have my phone back.”
“Only Sara?” Asher asked with a frown, “Sara’s your only relative?”
“Sara is my bestfriend.” I corrected him, “She is the only person who i think should be aware of my whereabouts.”
“What about your parents?” Bash asked, directing all his focus on me. “They’re travelling.” I lied.
“Alright then.” Asher sighed, “Theo will show your room for the next few days.” No more words were exchanged before i followed Theo out of the room. We walked a few steps and soon reached what i can now call my ‘room’ for the following days.
