Garrett and i stood in the middle of the yard with everyone's eyes on us. He stood in front of me, ready to attack and he did. He delivered the first blow which i dodged, angering him instantly.
Garrett was an experienced fighter, with bulging biceps and a confident swagger, while my movements were more calculated and precise. I immediately launched at him, delivering punches and kicks which he attempted to block but failed miserably.
He was clearly outmatched by my agility and speed. My movements were fluid, as if choreographed to a dance, as i dodged and blocked each of his strikes and landed some well-timed blows. I thought he was supposed to be better than that.
As the fight wore on, it was clear that i was winning. Delivering one punch, Garrett fell hard on the ground. "You lose." I stated, looking down at the boy before holding out my hand for him to take as a gesture of good will. He was nothing but a pawn in his mother's game of power. Smiling, he took my head and stood up to his feet. "It was a fair fight. I appreciate you fighting... fairly. My mother was sure you would play dirty."
"That's enough." Cherry's voiced boomed among the crowd. "I demand a rematch."
"Your demands mean shit." Asher answered back, his voice loud. "This ends now. We won, fair and and square. Back the fuck off or die."
"You dare threaten me in my house?" Cherry took a daring step toward Asher, Bash and Theo stepped in front of him protectively.
"Doesn't matter which ground i am on. I still have power over you." Asher retorted.
Garrett and i walked back to them. He immediately went to his mother's side, attempting to talk some sense into her but no avail. Cherry was hell bent on making a scene.
"They won, mom." Garrett sighed, "We had rules and they didn't break any. Don't embarrass me by breaking the rules that you made yourself."
"You don't understand." Cherry's hand went to grab her son's face in an affectionate manner but everyone could see the lies. She didn't love her son. She loved the little power he had. "I am doing this for you. For you to have a better future. For you to rule the world."
"I don't want to rule the world." He rolled his eyes. "You do. Stop using me as your fucking ticket."
Cherry's eyes widened at his son's response to her statement. Before anyone of us could decipher what was happening, she removed a gun and pointed it at us and so did the guards surrounded us. "Im sorry, sweetheart, but one of us had to play dirty."
"I knew it." A deep chuckle rumbled from Asher's throat, "I fucking knew it."
"Yet you came unprepared."
Asher raised a questioning brow at her statement, "I don't rule the largest and strongest mafia in the whole fucking world by being dumb, Cherry."
"You came with two of your men and one girl." She looked at us, "You are outnumbered."
"Am i?", Asher repeated her question, pointing to the ten cars driving at full speed towards us. Once it stopped, around twenty five men stepped out, surrounding them. "Think again."
"You bastard." She chuckled nervously. "You thought this through, didn't you?"
"I told you." Asher took a step towards her, "You do not fuck with my family and get to walk away with it."
"Asher, come on." She lowered her gun, signaling her men to do so as well. "It was a harmless joke."
"A harmless joke." He repeated, strangling her, "Tell me if this feels like a harmless joke to you."
