Katherine's POV

Jason was currently bringing me to where my parents are staying. Asher was kind enough to let us use one of his cars along with His driver who was driving while Jason gave him directions. Apparently, they were staying in a hotel, not far from the cafe where i worked.

Once reached, the driver told us he would wait here because his boss ordered him not to leave until he sees me home, safe, which i was grateful for.

We entered the hotel and i followed Jason to the receptionist where he asked for their room numbers. We stepped into the elevator and chose floor number 3, where they were.

I was incredibly nervous. I haven't seen my parents for years, neither spoke with them and i was about to meet my baby brother. I wasn't even sure if they would still look up to me as their daughter not the daughter who fled her home.

I was so lost in thoughts and haven't even realized that we were standing in front of their hotel room. Jason stepped aside, "I'll leave you alone to catch up." He smiled before taking off to god knows where.

I took a deep breath before knocking at the door. "I swear to god if you don't-" when i tell you i stopped breathing. After all these years, my mother was still the same beautiful woman despite her age. Her breath got caught in her throat and so was mine. "Katherine."

"Hi, mom." Tears started filling up in my eyes and i could barely control them from falling. I was engulfed into a bone crushing hug as my mother sobbed.

"Oh my god." She broke the hug, tears steaming down her face as she cupped my face into her hands, not believing that i am really here before hugging me again.

"Did you just say Katherine?" My dad's voice started to get closer until he was standing next to my mother. "Katherine."

"Dad." I smiled at him through my tears as his eyes started tearing up as well. My mom broke the hug but i was immediately pulled into my dad's arms.

"I can't believe this." He wiped his tears away, "look at you. You have grown into such a beautiful person."

My mom hummed in agreement before closing the door behind me. "My sweet girl, we have missed you so much."

"I missed you guys too." I said as we sat on the couch, "There hasn't been a day where you two didn't cross my mind."

"Katherine darling," My dad held my hands, "Why didn't you tell us about your concerns?"

"I have looked up to you two my whole life. I wanted to be like you- respected, powerful and everything you two are." I stated, "But it wasn't who i was. Deep down, dad, i couldn't bring myself to accept that i have to kill people my whole life, That i have to lead a whole world, i couldn't. I would not be able to live with myself if human's lives were in my hands like this."

"But you are our daughter." My dad spoke after a while, "It is who you are, it is your life, your heritage, your future. Those people will protect you, will die for you and kill for you."

"I don't want that. I don't want people to kill for me or die for me." I replied, looking at my mom. "I killed for you two, i made you proud."

"You have. Everyday." My mother smiled at me, "I understand. Our life can get a little extreme at times but it is us who matters, being here for each other. That is what is the strongest bond of them all- the family bond. I am not going to lose you again because of our way of living. If you want to stay here, then stay. I know you built a life here for yourself and it made me prouder."

"Your mother, like always, is right." My dad sighed, "These past few days of living here has made us realize how much we were missing in this world. Which is why, we decided to involve the outside world in our world as well."

"But dad, the assassins?" I listed out my concern. They would need to abide by this world's rules and regulations and they will need to learn the law. "This world has its rules and there are laws here as well."

"Such as?" My dad frowned.

"Such as, you cannot just kill a random human being and get away with it. The police officers will throw you in jail where you will have your trial and released if the judge agrees to that or something like that." I explained, or at least, tried to.

"That sounds boring, honey." It was my mom's turn to frown. "But if Katherine likes it here then so will we."

Oh my god. My parents are psychopaths and i already knew that but ever since i got acquainted with the laws, i realized their level of psychotic.

"We will not stay here forever." Dad stated, "Only for a few weeks or months, we'll see. We have taken an oath to carry on with what our ancestors started, we cannot just break it but we can take a break." He smiled at me before saying, "Shall we meet your brother?"

"How old is he?" I asked as we walked to a room where he was in. "3." My mom stated with a smile. She opened the door slowly to avoid making noise which will wake him up. There he was, my baby brother, sleeping peacefully on the bed.

"His name is Aaron." Dad said, looking at his son with adoration. "Let's let him sleep." With that, he closed the door and lead us back to the living room.

"Tell us, Katherine. Who was this Asher boy?" My mother asked, curiosity swimming in her eyes.

"He is a friend." I replied, my mind instantly going thoughts about the latter. Will i ever see him again?

"A friend who kidnapped you." My dad stated, gritting his teeth.

"It was a misunderstanding." I smiled, remembering why i was kidnapped.

"Does he know about us?" He questioned, his arms crossed. "No." I lied. I knew my parents and i knew they would kill him if they knew that he knows about them. They care too much about their secret to risk someone in this world knowing about it.
