I was currently in my room getting ready for the dinner. Aaron was sleeping, it amaze me how much this guy can sleep.

I looked at myself in the mirror before going downstairs. I looked decent enough. Sighing, i opened the door and went downstairs not before asking a girl Asher asked to look after Aaron while im not here, to let me when he wakes up.

The family dinner table was set with a crisp white tablecloth and polished silverware, glistening in the warm glow of the overhead chandelier. The savory aroma of a slow-cooked pot roast fills the air, mingling with the sweet scent of freshly baked dinner rolls.

As i entered the kitchen where Asher stood along with Jonathan and a woman dressed in a flowery pink dress with her hair in a bun, Jonathan noticed me. "There she is."

I smiled at him before making my way further in the kitchen. "Hey Jonathan."

"Camille, this is Katherine. The girl i told you about." He introduced, "And Katherine, this is Camille. My wife."

"It's nice to meet you." I said, turning my attention on the woman. She chuckled, engulfing me in a hug. "Same, dear."

"Katherine." Asher spoke from behind us, making his mother break the hug. I looked at him and found him staring at me. "Glad you came."

"I had nothing else to do. Might as well meet the woman who birthed you." I shrugged earning a laugh from his mother. "I like her already."

"Let's go have dinner." Jonathan placed his hand on the small back of his wife, directing her towards the dinner room.

"Where's your brother?", Asher asked, his footsteps approaching behind me. "He's sleeping."

"Hmm." He hummed, his breath fanning on my neck. "You look nice."
His hand found its way on my back before copying the gesture of his dad. "Let's go."

Once we arrived in the dinning room, we took our seats. Asher took out a chair for me, urging me to sit here, next to him. Asher sat at the end of the table with me beside him and his father on the other along with his mother.

The maid passed around bowls of steaming mashed potatoes and buttery green beans.

As we ate, the family engages in lively conversation, discussing their day and sharing stories which made me smile. Camille started narrating on how Asher was scared of ducks as a child. He'd cry upon the mere word. He thought they eat humans.

"That's not true." Asher retorted. "Mom, stop."

"Why should i?" Camille teased, "Katherine seemed genuinely interested."

I looked at Asher who was glaring at me at this point. "I am."

"So, Katherine, tell me about yourself." Camille asked, taking another bite of her food.

"There's nothing much about me." I stated. "I just moved here some years ago. My parents travel a lot."

"Ah." Camille sipped her drink, "My parents used to travel a lot too. It was always hard for us kids. Always having to move or not seeing them as much as we'd like. But, we understood it's their job and as much as it sucks, by the end of the day, we had food on our table and a roof on our heads."

I needed to change the subject. And fast. Thankfully, Asher heard my silent pleas. "How are things going with the Russians?" His question was directed to his father.

"Better. But The widow still won't back down." Jonathan answered, "It's like she is poisoning her son's head with lies and how powerful as god he'd be once he has destroyed us all."

"He can't destroy us." Asher stated proudly. "He is not even second in rank, not to mention his stupidity and inability to rule."

I wanted to ask who they were talking about i figured it wasn't my place so i kept silent. As they engaged in conversations about their own issues, my mind couldn't help but take its own trip to a world of thoughts about my parents. I didn't know whether they were fine or not or how they were treated or if we will even find them alive. If my parents dies, i would have no choice than to take over which meant goodbye to this life. As selfish as that sounds, i do not want to return back and leave everything i accomplished here.

As if sensing my discomfort, a hand grabbed mine under the table, gently rubbing it. I looked at Asher who gave me a curt nod before resuming the conversation with his father. I didn't even realize that i stopped eating or my leg was bouncing repeatedly. His touch somehow, made it all stop.

"Where Bash and Theo?" Jonathan asked, noticing their absence. Asher placed his empty wine glass on the table before replying, "Inspecting our new weapon deal. Making sure everything goes smoothly."

"So, Katherine." Jonathan spoke with a grin on his face. "Any boyfriends?" Asher's grip on my hand slightly tightened for a matter of a few seconds.

Weird.

"No." I answered, shaking my head.

"Any exes?" It was Camille's turn. Asher's grip tightened again before he let go. I looked at him confusingly before answering his mother's question.  "No."

God, they must think im pathetic or alone. Imagine never having a boyfriend or never been kissed or have any sexual encounters with anyone. I think it's safe to say im a saint.

"Have you ever been in love?" She asked, smiling at me. I shook my head at her yet another question. "No. Ive never had a boyfriend or ever liked anyone in that way."

"Interesting." Asher hummed, his gaze fixed on me. His parents exchanged looks between themselves before standing up. "It's time for us to leave."

"I'll see you here tomorrow." Asher smiled at them before turning his gaze back on me. Camille and Jonathan waved us goodbye before disappearing behind the front door.

"Ever been kissed?" He asked, removing his hand from mine.

"Why do you want to know?" I sighed, getting up from my seat as well. He relaxed in his before shrugging. "Just do. Have you ever been kissed?" He repeated his question.

The sound of a child crying interrupted our conversation. Rushed footsteps could be heard along with the cries getting louder and louder. The girl, Kiera, appeared in the dinning room with Aaron in her arms. "He woke up and started crying."

"No shit." Asher groaned. "Get him to stop crying." He warned her.

"I tried." Kiera said, shaking her head repeatedly, "He is asking for his mother."

Approaching her, i took Aaron from her before thanking her and went to sit back down on the chair. "Hey Ron." I whispered, patting him on his back. He looked up at me before placing his head back on my shoulder. "You hungry?"

He nodded before turning around to look at the food. I picked up a spoon for and fed him. He stopped crying and started eating before asking, Where's mommy?"

"She'll be back soon." I lied, "She went somewhere with dad."

"Hey buddy." Asher smiled at him. "You want icecream?" He nodded at him before asking to be picked up. Asher picked him up from my lap. "I have icecream back there, in the kitchen. You want as well?"

"Yes." Who refuses icecream? I was about to follow him but i knew i had to change into something more comfortable. This dress was itching me. "I have to change first." He nodded in understanding, "you know where to find us when you're done."
