I retreated to my room after this interesting encounter with Matilda and the boys. As i laid on my bed, I couldn't help but start thinking of my family currently in the basement. I had to get them out otherwise, my mind will never be at peace. It’s been more than 8 hours that im in this house and in those 8 hours, ive seen Asher’s office, the kitchen, the living room, this room and the basement. I finally decided to go release them at night, when everyone will be sleeping. It’s now 7 pm, in three hours, i will pay a little visit to the basement and release my family.

I had dinner in my room itself, a woman in her mid thirties knocked at my door with a plate full of mac and cheese. She was nice, dressed appropriately unlike Matilda. Once i was done eating, Sara and i texted for a few minutes which turned to a whole hour. I obviously had to lie to her about everything, including how im feeling when she asked.

Sighing, I looked at the time on my phone which said 22:30. I knew I could do this now considering Asher, Bash and Theo are not in the house, they informed me of their temporary departure some hours ago and No, Asher did not leave me unguarded. Apparently, this house is surrounded by guards 24/7 which was not surprising at all but the guards, are outside, thankfully and i had no intention of leaving this place without my family.

I got up of the bed and went downstairs towards the white door in the back of the living room which led to the basement. The door made a creaking sound upon opening, i quickly closed it after entering. It was dark, really dark. I took out my phone and turned my flashlight on, watching my steps as i walked down the metallic stairs which were on the verge of breaking or so i thought. You wouldn’t tell that this place is underneath such a beautiful house. It’s nothing like upstairs, it seemed like i entered another world.

Im not gonna lie, this place gave me chills. It was cold, dark, and it smelt bad. Let’s face it- The darkness is scary. Even if you aren’t terrified of it by itself, it can sometimes give you a horrible feeling that you’re being watched, because you just can’t see if there’s something there. My flashlight helped me see half of what was in front of me, the rest? God knows.

I have been in this place once and i didn’t see much. This was a room. A room where the darkness is the color of pitch, with no little lights anywhere if i turned off my flashlight. Without my phone, if i just stood here and wait for my eyes to adjust wouldn’t help.

I watched my steps, carefully, scared that i might stumble on a dead body or something- literally anything. And let me tell you, those spiders hanging around on the walls, in the cracks of corners weren’t helping. No, im not scared of spiders but i don’t like them either- I don’t like insects in general.

As i walked further, i noticed the change. The smell became worst, the condition was worsen, i was surrounded with a thousand of cells. This place was a prison, to say the least. Finding my family in here would be nearly impossible in a matter of minutes, this would take hours, judging by the number of cells present.

However, the sound of people talking proved me wrong. I followed the direction of the voices which led me to them, my family, at last. To say i was surprised would be an understatement. The condition they found themselves in was excruciating to watch. They haven’t noticed me yet because of how far i was standing and they didn’t think to look my way, onto the corridor not like they would see anything considering they were surrounded by darkness.

The walls of their cell were cracked, as i approached closer to their cell, i noticed a light bulb which was, obviously, not lit, hanging in the middle of cell. Upon the noticing the light coming out of my phone, my father’s friend, looked right back at me.

“Katherine? is that really you?”, He whispered, his voice breaking with every word as his eyes started tearing up.

“Yes, it’s really-” My sentence was cut with an unfamiliar voice. “What do we have here?”

Immediately turning around at this, i realised it was one of guards. I was doomed, so fucking doomed.

“Who are you?”.

I took a step back from the guard, my back colliding with the cold mentally bar, “Your boss asked me to check up on them.” I lied, hoping that he believed it but was soon proved wrong when he removed his gun and pointed it at me.

“Get in the cell.” He removed a key from his pocket and opened the cell in which my family were kept. After urging me inside with a gun, he closed the door
and left me alone in here with them.
