Katherine’s POV
I couldn’t believe none of the guys came to get me out of here. I was starting to believe that they forgot about my existence or, they don’t even know i was thrown in a cell by a guard.
Sighing, i rest my head against the hard cold wall and waited for Jason to wake up. I couldn’t sleep, the entire night. Maybe for like twenty minutes- it’s hard to sleep when you are surrounded by several men who did god knows what. Granted, they are locked in a different cells but hearing them talk disgusted me.
The sound of approaching footsteps made me immediately stand up. I was in a hurry to get out of here. My bladder was going to explode if i didn’t and using the toilet here was out of the question.
Asher’s figure approached the cell along with Bash and the guard who threw me in here. Asher didn’t look surprised, if anything, his face was emotionless; Bash looked confused and the guard had a smirk on his face.
“Katherine.” Asher spoke, looking at me before his gaze snapped on the others behind me. He sighed, looking at the guard, “The keys. Now.”
He immediately handed him the keys, once he opened the cell, i got out and he closed it quickly in case the others tried to get out.
“Katherine, darling.” Bash sounded concerned, “Are you okay? They didn’t try anything, did they?”
I shook my head, “No, they didn’t.” He sighed in satisfaction upon my reply before nodding as we followed Asher, walking between the cells holding strangers.
“This place never fails to amaze me.” Asher said, with a sadistic smirk on his face, loud enough for the prisoners to hear, earning a ‘Fuck you’ from them which only made said smirk bigger.
“Psycho.” Bash muttered, shaking his head with a smile. “But true.”
“Crazy motherfuckers.” the guard added, opening the door and closed it immediately after me, Asher and Bash stepped out.
“You.” Asher looked at me, gritting his teeth in the process, “Come with me.” He then turned his gaze on Bash, “My father will be here later, we need to discuss something along with everyone else. Ready the meeting room.” With that, he went upstairs with me reluctantly following behind.
He stepped into his office, went to sit directly on the chair, leaving me to close the door. Once i did that, he gestured to the chair in front of him.
“What’s going on?”, I asked after taking my seat. Instead of replying, he placed his hands on the table and interlocked his fingers, his rings in display. His gaze was fixed on me, in complete silence until he broke it. “I’d like to know that myself.”
I raised a questioning eyebrow at him, “Meaning?”
“Meaning.” He repeated, “I have cameras installed in every corner of my prisons and i enjoy listening to talks- as you may put it, occuring between my prisoners.”
And that's when i knew i was totally and absolutely fucked.
“Sometimes they give up intel among themselves, not aware that me or my men are listening. It’s a really interesting tactic- bugging your own prisons for intel.” He stated, faking a smile at me before adding, “Let’s get to the point, shall we? How do you know these people, Katherine? I want to hear it from you. The truth this time.”
I sighed, “They’re my family.”
“Your family?” he repeated, “I am going to be honest with you and i trust you will do the same. If you don’t? I am going to fucking end you.”
“My name is Katherine Claire.” I started as he listened carefully, “My father is Ethan Claire and my mother is Hera Claire.”
“Bullshit.” He stopped me, “I used to be told stories about those two, fucking legends, assassins, am i correct?”
“Yes.” I nodded earning a ‘hmm’ from him before he said, “An absolutely fucking fairytale. They’re myths, Katherine. You expect me to believe this fairy tale of yours?”
“Im not lying.” I retorted, “I am their daughter. The ‘Princess’ who ran away from their so called hidden world because she could no longer deal with their way of living. Is that so hard to believe?”
“Their way of living?” He questioned earning a nod from me, “Yes, their way of living. Similar to yours.”
“Well then, looks like you’re unlucky.” He stated, “Left one world only to be caught up in its twin.”
No fucking shit.
“By all means, continue, princess.” He smirked at me, making it hard for me to tell whether he still thinks im lying.
“My parents are assassins and they train kids, people, whoever, to be assassins. I used to believe they are heartless,” I almost smiled at this, “Then i realised that having a heart in a world like this will only get you hurt or killed. So, i left.”
“You left because you couldn’t be heartless?” He asked, slightly frowning.
“Sort of.” I answered, “I killed, i killed a lot of people and i felt all of it.”
“You felt like shit?”
“Everytime.”
“I understand.” He stated, making me look at him, “I get it why you left. I know how killing people can touch the deepest part of your soul, it affects you.”
Not hearing any word coming out of my mouth, he continued, “And you, Katherine? You are so fucking strong. Some of us are fucked after our first kill itself, some likes it- they get used to it.”
“Was that a compliment?” I teased, smiling slightly at him as he shook his head with a chuckle, “From what ive heard, your parents will no longer be looking for you? They are fine with you being here?”
I shrugged, “Maybe.”
“I am trusting you here, Katherine, and therefore, releasing your family.” He said, “You are free to leave as well with them if you promise you will not tell anyone about my secret. I’ll keep yours if you keep mine.”
I smiled at him, grateful for this before teasing him, “And if i don’t keep your secret?”
He smirked at my question, “Then, Princess, i give you my word that i will hunt you down and find you wherever you are hiding and kill you myself.”
