It was late at night and you were watching a TV drama while you wait for your boyfriend, Shawn, to get back from the Chinese Palace.

He'd been gone for almost forty-five minutes, and you were starting to get worried.

Just when you were close to falling asleep, the door swung open.

"Honey, I'm hooooome!" Shawn calls, closing the door with his heel and making a cute smile as he balances the bags of food on his arms.

"I'm over heeeeere!" You wave from the couch.

"Sorry it took so long, they were slow today." He says as he sets the bags down and starts unloading each one.

"Will you hurry up and sit next to me?" You impatiently ask with a joking smile.

He bites his lip and stares at you. "God you're cute," He says quietly.

Then he grabs the paper bowls and forks and plates and crosses behind the kitchen counter over to the couch, sitting so close to you he was almost on your lap.

"Here," He hands you your bowl of noodles with the shrimp and rice you always prefer. Then he places your large Dr. Pepper on the coffee table.

You smile.
"You did good."

"I know," He blushes.

You put your feet up on his knees and turn the TV down so you could talk about school and music and work like you usually do.

By the time you finished your noodles and egg rolls, you reach for one of the fortune cookies Shawn had very carefully placed on the table.

"Oops, sorry, that one's mine."

You stare down at the cookie in your hand and watch him swap it with the other one.

"Are you literally calling dibs on fortune cookies now?" You say jokingly.

"Yes."

Then he starts to unwrap the one you'd originally picked up and stares at you, waiting.

"If your fortune is better than mine I swear to god-"

"I don't know about that, Y/N," He says. "The [other] Asian behind the counter seemed pretty sure it was a good fortune when she handed it to me, and you know Asians, they're like, all knowing."

"I would say that's racist, but I'm not really sure if it is."

"Oh for God's sake, Y/N. Just open it."

You shrug and take the packaging off, breaking the cookie in two.

You pull out the little white slip of paper from between the two broken pieces and flip it over, strangely excited to read your fortune.

You freeze up when you see it.

In small, black ink, you see the words,

Y/N, will you go to prom with me?

You cover your mouth and gasp, looking up to meet Shawn's big brown puppy eyes.

He smiles. "Will you?"

"Yes!" You nod, wrapping your arms tightly around his neck. "I love you so much." You whisper.

He rubs your back gently and says, "I seriously doubt your love for me can be any deeper or wider or astronomically proportionally larger in any way than mine for you."

"K that made no sense, but I can't wait for prom!" You clap your hands.
"You're the only one that I want to spend it with."
