The hall turned black and only the outline of objects were remaining. Frisk gripped the two knives as Gloom floated up on a blaster she summoned.

"It's probably beautiful outside, the sun is shining, the world is flourishing, but on a day like this, a human like you, will have to have a Gloomy experience."

Frisk could barely dodge in time as bones were shot out at them in quick succession. They used the knives to knock some of the bones away before finding themself looking into the mouth of a blaster.

Frisk ducked down just as it blasted a stream of energy over them, leaving a large burn mark in the wall.

Frisk ran towards Gloom as she lifted her hand which sent Frisk flying upward. Quickly Frisk turned themself so that their feet landed on the ceiling and kept running towards Gloom. The ceiling cracked underneath them and they jumped over the bones that shot through.

Frisk jumped down towards Gloom and flipped quickly as they were let go and Gloom held onto her axe tightly. Frisk hit the handle of Gloom's axe while standing on the blaster as well and pushed back against the skeleton.

Gloom barely reacted as her eye were dark and she simply held Frisk back before spinning the handle and taking a quick swing at Frisk.

Frisk jumped back as the blade of the axe went in front of their chest, nearly cutting it. Frisk turned so they could fall on their feet as they threw one of the blades up at Gloom. She raised up and the knife hit the blaster which caused it to stay in its face and cracks formed around it.

Frisk landed on their feet and their legs screamed from the high fall. Several blasters formed around Frisk and they barely had enough time to jump out of the way of them firing. Why is she doing this? Tears streamed down Frisk's face from pain as they dodged another rain of bones.

Frisk felt cold hands close onto their shoulder and the voice whispered quietly, "You need to keep attacking, she can't dodge attacks forever," Frisk tried to shove the hands off, but the entity only gripped them tighter. "Let me take over Frisk, I can end this fight quickly, you can trust me,"

"NO!" Frisk shouted as they ducked under a blaster beam. Frisk was panting while looking around for the next attack, but it didn't come. Looking quickly up, Frisk saw that Gloom was looking down at them, a confused look on her face. But, another look was also on her face.

Fear.

Frisk felt confused. Why was fear in Gloom's face? What made her have that expression?

Frisk felt a cold hand grab onto theirs and out of their control, they threw the remaining knife upwards at Gloom. The skeleton tried to move out of the way, but the knife hit her blaster, right in the lit eye which caused it to immediately vanish out from under Gloom. The skeleton looked surprised, but fell easily down onto their feet.

Wait, what just happened? Why did I throw that? How did I-

Frisk was caught off guard as Gloom was suddenly jumping down with the axe and they quickly jumped to the side. Cracks formed where the blade hit the tile and Gloom looked over at Frisk as they ran to grab the knife they had thrown.

Frisk whipped around quickly just as Gloom was taking another swing at them. Frisk brought the knife up and blocked the blade, their arms shaking against the strength that was put into the swing.

Tears went down Frisk's face as they looked into Gloom's now blank expression. The face that was once filled with a smug look, a gentle smile, intense anger, and even fear, was just just blank again. Unreadable. Frisk wanted to see the emotions come back into the skeletons face.

Frisk got a idea."Can I 'axe' you a question Gloom?" Frisk smiled at Gloom as they spoke the pun. Frisk felt the pressure pushing against them lighten up ever so slightly. "I don't know if this is a 'sharp' observation you've had, but it was really 'knife' to meet you in the beginning."

The red light came back into Gloom's eye and a slight smile was on her face and the pressure let up even more.

Frisk took the opportunity to shove back roughly against the handle which caught Gloom off guard and she lost her balance, falling onto the tile before quickly standing back up and sending a wave of bones towards Frisk.

"I guess you still have a 'bone' to pick with me though, I don't have the 'spine' to fight you, I don't want an 'axeident' to happen after all," Frisk watched as Gloom held back a snicker and her red eye turned back into purple.

Frisk felt themself be lifted up and thrown quickly to the far wall and pain shot through them as they hit hard before they were thrown down to the ground and let go of.

"Stop telling jokes, I don't want this to be any more of a pain in the ass to me than it is right now," Gloom's eye was still purple as they raised up their hand, bones being formed above it as they stood over Frisk.

Frisk felt a chill go through them. Well, it was worth a shot, I guess. I would rather die to her than anyone else really. Frisk smiled up at Gloom, more tears going down their face. "At least I'm going to die to you and not a metal rust bucket." Frisk laughed a little bit as they had their eyes closed while looking up towards Gloom.

Frisk was ready to accept their fate as they heard a whoosh of air above them.
