"You shouldn't have done that" June sighed remembering Julie's behaviour at the gala.

"I did what I did, and cannot go back now, just like in the past" Julie's expression looked sour.

"You know that I don't hate you right?" June looked at the ground intently.

"I know" Julie sighed a little. "So April and you, are a thing now?" Julie smiled a little trying to make the mood lite but anyone could feel the tension in her face. Tension what June would say.

"It's not like that," said June.

"It's always like this isn't it?" Julie's eyes met June's.

"I..." Before June replied his phone buzzed frantically with a call from Maddy. His eyes widened at what he heard from the other side "What? April?" With those words, he started to run away like frantic without one more word to Julie.

"After all, it is like that" Julie smiled bitterly as the troublesome past flashed through her eyes.

At Winterford, only June and Julie were the common folks on scholarship in their class, everyone else is the future hier of the conglomerates within and out of the country. Julie always felt belittled and insecure about this fact. In contrast, June was always casual about it and is the smartest student in the class. Julie couldn't help but feel curious about his nonchalant nature.

One Semester, both were assigned together on a group project and Julie started to see June often. As they spend more time together Julie's curiosity for June increased and at a point without her knowing she wants to invoke the closed-off intimate door to June's heart. At first, June rejected her but she persisted, and he finally accepted her proposal one day.

Though they were officially dating, Julie never felt she was close enough to June, she never felt she was the most important person in his life.

June was aware of it too that he was never sincere towards Julie. So when she left him with a note, he wasn't bitter or surprised it was like a ticking time bomb for him. He knew it would explode one day or the other. When it did, he rather felt relieved in a weird way.

When April visited June for the New Year in their final semester, they all agreed to meet at a pub and go home afterwards for dinner. But Julie still had some reporting work to do so she said April and June meet at the pub first and she'll join later.

"Winterford is the best place to spend New years, I love it" April took a sip of her wine.

"It's just like everywhere" June chuckled.

"Of course not, you are here in Winterford not anywhere else" April's smile was warm and bright.

June's heart ran a bit faster, bothered by this inexplicable feeling he covered it by diverting the conversation "How's your studies going on?"

"You know studies and me are two separate worlds, don't even mention it. By the way, you remember Maddy and Ace right, we regularly hang out at Ace's track and got close a bit. But don't worry no one can replace my June, once you're back we will be always together" she took a sip of wine.

June dodged April's sight bothered and diverted his attention to his watch "It's getting quite late Julie didn't text me yet, what's up with her"

April suddenly felt a little jealous looking at June all worried about Julie and gulped down her wine glass at once.

Right then June got a call from Julie that she wasn't finished with her work yet and that she would wait for them at home directly. June left a relieved sigh.

"Do you like her so much?" April's voice sounded a little funny as if she's drunk. She tied her hair with the band and her cheeks blushed a bit. She's definitely drunk, June knew it.

"Alright, you should stop drinking now...." before June could rebuke further April gulped another big sip from the bottle directly.

Somehow June got April out of the pub and helped her walk to the car. She is blabbering some incomprehensible words and refusing to put on the seat belt. He knew she would be a trouble after drinking. So June leaned to help her with the seatbelt.

All of sudden, he felt something warm and soft on his lips. His eyes widened as his brain froze. It's April's lips on his. June tried to let go of her as she was drunk but April deepened the kiss as she passionately gripped his hair tight. June was caught in a web of emotions, his world suddenly tilted upside down as he could not deny the fact anymore that he loves April.

Though June reprimanded April not to follow him to Winterford there wasn't a day where he didn't miss her. But he knew it is impossible between them and accepted Julie's proposal. He tried his best with Julie but the fact is his smile shines the brightest when he is with April. His heart runs the fast when he is with April.

Julie finished her work early and just arrived at the parking lot and saw April and June kissing. She knew she was always the middleman between them and decided it was time for her to leave June. she went back home and left a note of her goodbye to June.
